Do I screw this product on on top of my existing faceplate or do I have to remove my faceplate and put this on to act as the new face plate is it safe

Hello. Please remove the wall plate screw while keeping the original electrical wall plate in place. Align the Wall Charger, Surge Protector, using the supplied screw line it up in the extender's hole and into the wall socket cover hole. This screw when tightened secures both the wall Charger and original wall plate to the wall electrical socket.

can this be used on a gfi outlet?

I would not recommend even trying. To use this, you have to mount this over the existing outlets using the supplied mounting screw. If the backpressure pressing against the test button doesn't trip the GFI, you would not be able to reset the breaker if it tripped. In addition, the GFI's I am familiar with do not have a center mounting screw which is necessary to have a secure mount.

What is output per usb? each usb a port features 5v/2.4a which would be 7.2a total, not 4.8a.

* 4 USB ports total 4.8 A, * each USB A port features 5V/2.4A Max output. * USB C charging port features 5V/3A MAX. If all of the USB ports were in use all at once, the total maximum output would be 4.8 A. Think of this as the 'total maximum output bucket.' A USB-A port can pull up to 2.4 A. So if only two USB A ports were being used at maximum draw, you would max out the 4.8 A total available bucket. So what happens when you plug in another USB device? Well... something isn't going to get its full power draw because you've reached the max output. So, the max bucket will get shared across the active ports, and things will 'trickle charge' because they aren't getting the full juice. If just the USB-C port is in use, and it is doing the full draw of 3 A, what happens if you plug in a USB A device that needs 2.4 A? You are at the bucket max which is 4.8 A which is then shared across the active ports. Trickle-charge again.

There is a little green light in a circle around the mounting screw to indicate silent operation, but why is there a green light in the 3rd usb slot?

The green LED light is surge protection indicator. The light for this is on the interior of the surge protector. The light you are seeing on the USB port is the surge protector light. The LED light is next to the USB you are referring to. I just happens to be right where the USB is on the outlet. It is just a reflection of the surge protector light.

Needed this for our closet outlet where we keep our chordless vacuum and school computer chargers. It was a perfect fit! It looks very nice and it came with a screw to connect it to the middle hole plate cover and was easy to install! Makes it stay neat and tight on the wall. Works very well!

This is the second one of these I've bought an I absolutely love them. The spacing and unique angled design of the sockets gives plenty of room for large or oddly shaped plugs. With a lot of TV accessories (audio devices, Fire TV stick, etc) now including USB cords for power, these make a perfect duplex for using with an entertainment center setup. The traditional 120v sockets are perfect for the bigger stuff, then the USB ports make for a nice clean way to power everything that uses USB. The unit is not super heavy to where i would worry about damaging my existing socket, but it has enough weight that it feels like it has decent build quality. It has a plastic post to keep the plug from shifting side to side as well.The sockets themselves are nice and tight giving a secure connection. Installation is a breeze. All it takes is removing your existing face-plate and use the included common sized Phillips-head screw to attach it. This all combined gives a very secure end product. The first one I got still works perfectly after 6 months of light use. With now signs of emerging issues. The blue indicator light isn't super bright and from across a room it's not bothersome at all to me. I have not tested the quick charging capability, but one thing to note is the 2 top USB plugs share 4.8 amps. So if you're trying to quick charge 2 items with those plugs it won't be as fast as you expect.
