In the shadows of the Sangre de Cristo mountains of New Mexico sits a century-old ranch house where artisans handcraft knives of rare beauty. Their products range from one-of-a-kind custom designs to pocket knives, kitchen cutlery, men’s gifts, and accessories. Each of Santa Fe Stoneworks pieces is a unique example of the cutler’s art – the quintessential marriage of fine steels with gemstone, shell, or intricate wood marquetry Due to handcrafting and the use of natural materials, variations should be expected. This striking lockback pocket knife is crafted with sections from an actual Woolly Mammoth tooth from Siberia. The blade is Damascus Steel, known for its strength, edge holding ability, and dramatic appearance. It comes from Japan and is called “Sanmai Damascus” or Sandwich Damascus. There's a core of vg-10 steel with 16 layers of stainless steel on each side to produce a rust free blade.

Great craftsmanship, but...
The Damascus steel in the blade is beautiful. Well made. The handle has a great story and feels great in the hand. The only reason I wouldn't grade this higher is because it arrived loose in the packaging and the polished stainless part of the handle was scuffed.I could not tell if it was returned previously or just poorly handled prior to shipment.

Beautiful knife
I bought this knife as a Christmas present for my father and he loved it. The handle and blade are both beautifully crafted. It's almost too nice to actually use without worrying about damaging it. I may buy another one just for myself. Great buy.
