Early Wodehouse
This is an early offering by P G Wodehouse which was written to be issued in a magazine (aimed at boys) and predictably botkhthe target age group and the episodic nature are clear. However it is Wodehouse and, while these are "new" characters you clearly see some well known types (Uckridge, PSmith, & Mike to name only three. If like me you are a Wodehouse fan, & I suspect you are if you have read this, then the book is well worth the purchase price especially as, to my knowledge, this is the only format in which the text is available.

A very different school story
This novel is one of Plum's early school stories, and is very different from his other novels in that genre, such as "The Gold Bat" and "The Pothunters". It is more a blood and thunder adventure, as the hero of the story attempts to retrieve the Luck Stone after it was taken. The story is sensational, and even contains a car chase resulting in a fatal crash - with the vehicles going at 30mph. Well, it was written in 1908!. If you enjoy the author's school stories you will like this novel, and if your an avid PGW fan you will be pleased that this story is no longer out of print. A ripping read!

DIRTY WORK BY THE PUBLISHER!
Very bad presentation by the publisher. No mention that it's not in fact an original first edition, since it was first published in bookform about a decade ago. Nor is there any mention of the fact that the book was in fact co-written by Wodehouse's friend Bill (William) Townend. That is a disgrace, frankly.Story itself is decent enough, for what it is -- a thud-and-blunder serial for boys in a boys' weekly paper before the Great War.

A real discovery.
Not your usual Wodehouse. This reads like a boys own story. The famous five plus. Full of twists and turns and good characters.. A real page turner and testament to a bygone age at the same time. Splendidly written as usual but "deadly serious" I loved it.

this dark and suspenseful plot will never disappoint. "
I think that the blurb-writer (above) ought to reconsider: The blurb reads "All written in the form of a letter to a friend, this dark and suspenseful plot will never fail to disappoint". Presumably it should have read "...this dark and suspenseful plot will never disappoint."
