Draw, Paint, Sparkle: Creative Projects from an Elementary Art Teacher

Wonderful art program
While working as a story time provider I wanted to start an art program...with no art training. This book is part of a wider program that I would love to be a part of someday, if I go back to working with younger kids. I did some great projects with this book, including the Artist Study of Keith Haring (seen in photo).

A lifesaver for remote learning!
I purchased the book nearly three years ago. I didn't have much use for it when we were in a normal classroom setting. When art became remote in our district, this book has saved my sanity! It has so many vibrant, fun projects that require very little. I was only able to provide each student with sharpies, oil pastel and a small watercolor set. Most of the projects in this book only require these materials. The projects that involve tempera can easily be adjusted to use watercolor or any other materials you have on hand. My first graders' favorite project was the seals in the water with mountains in the background. This project was derived from this book. Highly recommend this resource for anyone with limited means or if you are still teaching art remotely or even from a cart.

Patty Palmer Rocks
Patty Palmer is the Oprah of Teaching Kids Art. Truly I have been a fan since 2012 when I found myself back in the art class room after 28 years away and my old lessons and ways didn't work anymore. I discovered the blog Deep Space Sparkle and Patty's philosophy and lessons really resonated with me. Now that I am a studio owner looking for inspiration, I also became a Sparkler (an online membership for art teachers) I listen to her podcast Art Made Easy and I bought this book. My Kreative Kids program love the lessons so far. If you are teaching art on any level to homeschool kids or in the classroom or studio I say 'Patty Palmer your life" she makes you feel good about all of it.

Excellent book especially for "non" arty parents
I love all Patty's work and have used her lessons both in and out of the classroom. I love the voice this book is written in. My ten year old daughter and her friend were easily able to follow the directions from start to finish - my book even has the paint on it to prove it. You and your family will treasure both Patty's lessons and her love for art. I love that she provides a list of affordable art materials and directed drawings. This will help you create memories with your children and art they (and you) will treasure for years to come!

Palmer is a blessing and her book is AMAZING!
Patty Palmer is an incredible inspiration to new art teachers. This book is beautifully written with lessons that will be easy to use in class. The format is friendly and she showcases real student artwork. She and her team have an abundance of resources and engaging lessons. Her EPIC curriculum has been perfect for me as a new art teacher. She also has a podcast that has been a tremendous help to me as I have been preparing and planning to teach art this year. Patty Palmer is a blessing and through her love of teaching art and sharing resources, I can inspire my students.

Great for Art Teachers, Small Group Leaders and Parents Alike
Whether you are a mega-fan of Deep Space Sparkler or have never heard of Patty Palmer's website, this book is a perfect place to start (or continue) an art program with a classroom, small group or even with your own children. Grow your confidence as Patty walks you through her top tips, supplies and projects to guarantee successful and creative art projects. I was happily surprised to find the projects did not duplicate what is already found on her site - this book is an open-and-go resource I know I will use again and again with my students and children.

I highly recommend this book!
Draw, Paint, Sparkle is full of amazing tips to help parents/caretakers teach art to their elementary age kids at home. With so many schools not including art programs in elementary school (like my daughters) it's so important that we parents provide art opportunities for our kids at home. The lessons are fun and engaging - I mean check out this cute raccoon made by a 9 year old from the book! The lessons require simple supplies, that can be used again and again. I'm sure even you as the parent will have fun creating the projects right alongside your child, I sure do!
