Mermaid Swim Tail by Shimmertail - Includes Fin!

Ordered this for our daughters 9th birthday. She and all of her friends watch that H2O mermaid series and she asked for a mermaid tail that she could actually swim in. Found this on Amazon and the price is awesome! She hasn't been able to swim in it yet as it is December in Nebraska but we have a pool so I will update this summer on how well it holds up. My only word of advice is that in the measurements it says the length is the most important part to get right. My 9 year old is very tall for her age and between a size 10 & 12. I ordered the x large based on the measurements listed but it seems much longer. Fortunately I have a sewing machine and I know how to use it so I will just alter it in the summer when she goes to actually use it. It fits her everywhere until it gets to her waist and then it's too long and too loose. I'll have to take it in. But as far as she is concerned, she screamed when she opened it and wears it just hanging around the house. I have to actually tell her to take it off or she would wear it all day. I feel like I should order one more for a friend when she has them over. Two mermaids are way more fun than one!!

This fun mermaid tail was given as a Christmas gift last year to my then 9 year old daughter. I have to say she wore and played with this item more than any others but she is a mermaid fanatic so I knew it would be a perfect gift for her. She wore it in the bathtub until weather permitted to wear in a wading pool in our yard. She also wore at a hotel pool once but I think it would not be permitted in a public pool...not sure as we never tried it.The quality of the fabric is just as a swimsuit fabric.It washes well in the machine on gentle after the plastic fin is removed. It has held up well and retains it's shape.There are other brands that are more realistic looking but for the price, this is a good value. Reminder, though, this item should be worn with adult supervision and states clearly the child must wear a life jacket as the feet and legs are restrained!

After reading several reviews,I decided to purchase this mermaid tail for my 4 year old daughter for Christmas. I really didn't want to spend that much on a mermaid tail, however it was the cheapest tail that was available on Amazon that allowed my daughter to swim.We got the small size and it fit perfect! We tested it out and followed the directions on the Shimmer Tale website that was provided on the package.My daughter jumped in the pool and immediately started swimming like a mermaid. She is a strong swimmer and if you purchase this tale, you should make sure the child knows how to swim very well before putting this on!I will upload a video on this tale later. So far, we have used this tale 4 times and my daughter loves it. Every person who sees her swim with it, is amazed how well she swims, truly like a little mermaid!

These run big. We do roll down the tops for my daughters. They have been the envy of the pools and let the girls take turns. Even wear them in the bath tun. They take a while to dry. But the most bothersome thing about this is for the amount of money spent, they have very thin fabric and it snags easily and forms holes.I contacted the company about it and they said I could order a replacement? It snagged just a month after using it. These are made for little girls and should have some endurance behind them. We are gentle with them and dont let them sit on the concrete with them but, even with use in a wading pool a few times a week, we have holes.We have put clear nail polish around the hole and it kept it from spreading just for a few days so ended up singing the fabric to burn it and that has worked. But, again, it was disappointing to pay $50 and have holes a few weeks later.

Bought it for my granddaughter's birthday. The size runs big and I do not like the way the tail is open at the bottom causing it to look cheapHer birthday is coming up so I will have to up date later after she actually gets to use it.UpDate: The mermaid tail was a hit....The Birthday Girl really loved the gift and so did all her friends.Everyone got to try them out in the pool and we have pictures.Still want to give anyone else a heads up that it does run big....it just swallowed up my 10 year granddaughter and she is a normal size young lady. She just rolled down top to be at her waist.

My 8 year old daughter, who thinks she's a mermaid, was absolutely ECSTATIC to wake up Christmas morning and find this tail that Santa left for her. She has waited (im)patiently for warmer weather to be able to use it. This evening we went to a friends house who has a heated pool and she was very excited to finally get to put on her new tail and swim around.... but she was quickly frustrated and disappointed. The tail is of absolutely NO USE in the water. It does not perform like a flipper, her feet do not stay in the foot straps at all, and if anything, its actually quite dangerous as it binds the legs and the kids have no ability to kick their feet to tread water. She thought it was neat for all of about 4 or 5 minutes, long enough to discover theres no way to swim with it. So if you're planning to buy this so your kid can swim around and have fun pretending to be a mermaid, forget it. Best they can do is dangle it in the water and splash around a little while you get a couple of cute pics. Its too expensive to be just a costume toy, it should at least perform as a flipper.....but it doesn't. Its just a costume toy, totally worthless in the water. Two stars, and thats being generous.

I bought it as a birthday gift for my 4 year old. My daughter came across mermaid tails on youtube and she really wanted one for her birthday. She wanted the more expensive ones but they were for older kids. She was very excited when she got this one. This one was less expensive and for younger kids. She wore it all day and she even wore in in tub with 2 inches of water . She also wore it at her birthday party as a photo op while she blew her birthday candles. She had a pool birthday party and she used her mermaid tail in the water with her puddle jumpers and loved it.

This piece is well-made and fits tightly however when wet it is very heavy and if you’re swimming a long time and you get tired I could see a problem. Definitely Hass to have close supervision when using
