This works great. I very happy with this bath
This works great. I very happy with this bath. It has help reduce my dry and cracking skin on my hands. The wax is hot, so you have to be careful and dip quick. But it has to be hot or it won't melt.

Useful for temporary relief of joint pain
A paraffin bath was recommended by a physical therapist for hand pain. This one works well and does provide some relief. However, it takes more than three hours to melt the solid paraffin and must be left on unless you want to wait that period of time again whenever you want to use it. Once melted the unit cycles on and off, drawing a maximum of 42 watts. A faster heat-up from cold would be nice (max wattage is 80), but I suppose the danger would be in getting the temperature above the 135 degree maximum and someone getting a serious burn (the instructions warn not to use the bath until the heating light goes off and the ready light goes on). I should note that the third-party seller actually ordered this from another retailer (initials BB&B), which sells it for considerably less and with free shipping. It came directly from that company. I was able to get a refund for the difference, but I'd suggest doing some caparison shopping before ordering. Overall, I like having the ParaSpa Plus.

Arthritis relief
This is just what I needed to relieve arthritis pain in my thumbs. As the product info says, it takes about two hours to melt the wax, but you can leave it on all the time, if you like. I turn it off at night and back on first thing in the morning and use it several times a day. The wax is just the right temperature. Remember, you should do several quick dips rather than leaving your hand in the wax. After using this product a bit longer, I found that the wax is too hot if used right after the green light comes on. That's right out of melting mode, so that makes sense. Now I take the lid off and wait about 20 minutes to use it, and it's just right. I reuse the plastic bags numerous times, as the wax does not usually stick to the bag, and I'm making an insulated mitten to put over the plastic bag, thinking it will hold the heat in better than a towel. The bath comes with 3 pounds of wax which makes for a shallow dip for my hands, so I added one more pound. That brought the level to just below the maximum fill line and made it easier to get my thumb completely covered. I would not be able to get my size 12 foot in this bath, so if that's what you're looking for, you may need something bigger. The lid does lock at both ends, but it's not a tight seal, so I would not recommend moving the bath with the wax in melted form.

Rated on a past experience and use, current experience is a 1 star.
Bought the item to replace the one that finally quit working after two years. Out of the Box the item did not heat up enough to melt the wax that came with the unit (it is between the minimum and maximum lines so its not overfull). We left it plugged in for a week and only the center would become liquid, the edges remained solid yet malleable to the hand. It looked like a freezing pond actually. I have given this product a 3 star due to owning on previously. If I can get it replaced at no cost (manufacture defect) and it works, I will increase the rating.

Leaked hot wax from underneath after just two months of use!
I was so excited to receive this HoMedics Thera-P Paraspa since the arthritis in my hands is so bad, and this brings me comfort. I loved it for the first two months. I then noticed it sometimes heated very hot, and sometimes just warm. Last week ( not even two months after receiving it!) after having used it, I let it cool and moved it from the counter top to discover wax had leaked out underneath the unit. I it again placing it on a towel, and discovered it again leaked was throughout the towel. I am so disappointed, especially since it has a two year warranty. I tried contacting HoMedics only to deal with an answering machine that said someone would with me shortly. Over thirty minutes later, I was still on hold! I had been recommending this brand to family and friends, but no longer. I am so disgusted and hoping to find a way to get help with this matter from Amazon.

Well worth the $$$$
I suffer from a problem called "Dupuytren's Contracture", where the fingers cannot straighten, and are curled (somewhat), they just plain hurt all the time. This Bath, is the only relief I get all day, I use it twice a day, and it really helps. The product is well made, heats up, and is ready to use in about 2 hours, good price also, compared to some of the others, I've researched.

Not worth it
This product is not worth the money or effort to use. Instructions said 3hrs to melt but still wasn't completely melted after nearly 8hrs. Then the maximum amount said to use didn't even cover my hand. Returning it.

works well
First time the wax took longer to dissolve, after the first time faster than expected to reheat. My feet are long, size 11 female, & barely fit the tub
