Enhanced Ultra-Sensitive Wall-Penetrating Contact/High-Intensity Acoustic Amplified Water Pipe Leak Monitoring Device/Probe Microphone Amplification System

I ordered this product to help listen to mechanical sound vibrations. I haven't tried it for through-wall voice listening, but it is super sensitive. Maybe even too sensitive. I tested it by putting the contact microphone flat on my desk surface. Even on the lowest sensitivity, touching the desk anywhere or sliding a finger across it makes a pretty strong sound. Since it amplifies vibrations as sound, some unwanted sounds may come through also--a computer fan or disk drive, air conditioning, a radio playing in the room, etc. Even moving the cables on this device makes sound, so I will try to plan on positioning the amplifier and cables as needed, then tape everything down and try not to touch anything while listening. It's really sensitive. Be careful for your ears.

I do like this product, it works well. I recommend using a dab of hot glue to attach the contact microphone to the wall, making sure not to use too much glue and sticking on the center needle. this will reduce the extra noise from your hand holding it. ALSO! if you look at the side, you will notice there is an opening for an SD card. a regular SD card will not work. there is another piece for this device that will allow you to record. it fits in the opening, I had to look for it on Aliexpress. and it is only $10 plus shipping. So I ordered that and am waiting, then I can update this review.

Top quality stuff not a toy definitely a five star item for what you pay

I think this device works pretty well when it comes to sound detection, and it even looks and feels like a high quality build. My biggest complaint is that it doesn't record.. there's nothing in the instruction booklet about the recording feature, and there's nothing on the device itself about recording. There's literally only one bullet-point in the product description at the top, and there's only one word: Recorder - and this is why I spent the extra $30 or so for this one. Since it doesn't record, I'm returning this one and found another one on Amazon for about $8. Two things I didn't like about the functionality: one, the wall sensor will not sit flush (I was using it to listen thru my floor, in addition to the wall). Meaning, the internal spring that pushes the little needle out is so strong, you have to really push it down hard to keep it from moving or pushing itself back up. Second, you can easily injure your eardrums and have permanent hearing loss from this product. The volume is able to get extremely loud, and there is no safety feature to protect your ears from sharp, loud noises. I was left with my ears ringing badly just because the sensor moved a little while I was holding it against the wall, and the scraping sound was amplified so loud, it really is dangerous. There needs to be a sound dampening feature to protect against random and unexpected super loud sounds, caused simply by scooting the sensor a little bit while on the wall. And one more thing, I really wish the instruction booklet was written in English, that would have helped a lot! By the way, I've included a picture of the heavy wall sensor for you to see. The manufacturers printed the words "coniact miorophone" on it. I'm not sure what that means, it almost appears to be Latin, but Google translate came up with no translation results for these two strange words. The instruction booklet is written in the same language, thus I was not able to read or understand any of it. It appears to be written in some type of old English dialect or Latin based language.

There was some damage to mine when I received it. There are sharp edges on the volume knob as if someone dropped it on the concrete. Also, there are lots of small scratches all over it. Although I purchased a new one I am pretty sure they sent me a used one. Otherwise, it works well. You're going to want to put the volume knob all the way to the left, like you see in the picture so you don't blow your eardrums out. Apply the device to the surface and slowly turn the audio back up (the amount of static decreases). I'm glad I bought a warranty, I'm pretty angry they sent me a used/refurbished device. It feels like an ok device but the plastic parts feel more fragile than I expected, sort of like a Pez dispenser or happy meal toy.

Works great

This thing really works i was able to hear my kids talking through wall but the real reason I bought it was to locate underground water leaks. Haven't got to use it yet but if it does work it could be a lucrative tool

I bought this to detect and localize the sound in my washing machine, which has some sounds while turned off, but this product was justgiving me a "radio noise-like" sound in the background, making it impossible to localize the problem.
