Not too oily, but it does feel like a film
I've tried to transition from chemical based sun screens to more mineral based. The main issue I ran into was that they're super oily (not what I want on my face all day). I read reviews that this one would absorb better, and (bonus) act like a primer. All of that seems to be true, however 2 complaints. One tactile, and one visual.Perhaps it's a side effect of the mineral aspect, but I can feel this sunscreen on my skin. Not as an oil slick in the crevasse of my face, but rather as a layer permeated into the surface of my skin. It doesn't simply wash off at the end of the day, and requires a somewhat exfoliating wash. I've been getting away with mild cleansers and a good face cloth wipedown.Visually, it does blend in with my (super pale) skin after a few minutes wait. However it also catches on any dry patches (forehead, nose, etc.) and looks a little... unpleasant on close inspection. I'm inclined to believe this is an aspect of the primer element. I don't normally wear primer, or foundation. So maybe I'm just uninitiated and this kind of reaction is normal. It's definitely not my favorite thing, but it is relatively minor. So far it's working, and I feel good about what I'm putting on my skin and it's environmental impact. Those are major pluses in it's favor. :D*Update*after revamping my skincare routine I find I like this sunscreen more and more. It was catching on any rough spots on my skin, but with a improved moisturizing routine that hasn't been a problem. Instead I feel like it acts as a light primer and it's more than enough "makeup" to get me through the day. You do still want to be sure to wash it off in the evening. But that's all sunscreens. I like that this not only gives me protection, but also evens out my skin tone and lightly covers any blemishes. It's not a replacement for foundation. But if you're like me and usually go bare face, it feels just a little extra nice.

Not transparent!
I ordered this product because it checked all the right boxes, but it turns out not to be transparent, or rub in clear, as advertised. My photo shows it on my arm after application. You can compare the coated areas with my bare skin close to my wrist knuckle and my little finger knuckle. It's good stuff if you don't mind turning white before you go outside.

Great sunscreen but packaging is terrible
I love this sunscreen, it blends so nicely for a mineral sunscreen and any trace of a white cast usually goes away soon after it rubs in. It leaves my skin feeling soft and it's totally non greasy. HOWEVER, the packaging is aggravating. I can only pump out a pea size amount at a time, which is time consuming when I use it on my body. Also, the pump usually stops working at all after a while. I have to take the top off to get the product out, but there is no way to get the cap back on once it's off. If it was just in a regular tube without the pump it would be 5 stars

Pump was hard to use.
I bought this lotion because it was coral friendly. But, it had a newer style pump that I had difficulty with. I couldn't get the lotion out so I ended up breaking off the top and now the lotion is drying up so I will only get to use a portion of the product. I gave it a 3 since I am guessing it is user error.

Not as advertised
I had high hopes for this sunscreen but was disappointed. It definitely leaves an obvious white residue- I don’t know how it can claim to be transparent. The texture is pretty sticky, too. Not as bad as a pure zinc sunscreen, but it certainly doesn’t glide on smoothly. Points for being cruelty free and reef safe, but there are other cheaper sunscreens that are similar products.

By far the best zinc sunscreen I've used
One of the fellas at the beach was talking this stuff up, so I decided to give it a try. I have used both the SPF 30 and SPF 50 sunscreen lotion products heavily since. I'm in SoCal and in the ocean almost daily. And my use of these Amavara products has been in what is a record breaking hot summer for us here. And the water has been warmer than ever on record, so I have been at the beach more than ever. This is by far the best zinc sunscreen I've used. I love the not-greasy-at-all application. The lotion sinks right in and leaves my hands dry and skin moisturized and well protected. The pump mechanism is great for dosing applications too. This stuff is not cheap so it helps me use only what I need. The box says "water resistant 80 minutes" but mine kept me protected for way longer ocean sessions. Not that it matters to me too much, but I notice that Amavara sunscreen does not leave a pasty white film color like the others do. I highly recommend this sunscreen.

Would not buy again
Very disappointed in this product. It would not dispense at all so had to remove the lid (which wouldn’t go back on) and the sunscreen lotion was clumpy and watery, couldn’t hardly use it, had to try to mix it in the cup of my hand to be able to apply it. It remained white on my skin (wasn’t “transparent” as advertised.)

No reaction, no drying of skin! Perfect for the beach!
Love this sunblock. Since developing an allergy to so many of the popular sunscreens in the store, I was getting desperate. A friend of mine recommended using a transparent zinc oxide sun cream so I gave this a try. It is easy to use. Not thick or pasty or oily or sticky. Yes it does feel like a thin layer on your skin but I was not expecting zinc to absorb into your skin. It did not dry my skin or cause it to break out. A week on the beach in DR and I did not burn. Also I barely tanned on my face which is fine with me. Normally, I have freckles that appear after sun exposure but they only faintly appeared. I would highly recommend this to someone who is very fair or has allergic reactions to most sunscreens.
