Ruger Pepper Gel - Police Strength - Keychain with Flip Top Safety & Finger Grip (Max Protection - 25 Bursts)

I purchased this for my wife, and she was ambivalent about carrying pepper gel of any kind, because she thought it would be dangerous and clunky. I am a Ruger firearm owner, and knew that they like to make inexpensive, high quality, and ergonomic weapons. I selected this partly for brand loyalty, but the effect it had on her is what surprised me the most. First, this spray is a great size. It was less toylike than I expected, but it's not so large as to be prohibitive to pocket or hang off keys. We tested the spray, which was snappy and had great distance. My wife was impressed, and is happy to carry it now. She is glad to have the protection, and I am glad she's protected. I have no doubt she would be able to easily deploy this if needed, and wouldn't run the risk of having a spray mist back into her face.

It was good to hear that this has the same formula as the SABRE RED which is THE one recommended one to use, as it has one of the hottest formulas out there. My only concern with this design is it would be very easy to grab it incorrectly and find your forefinger over the spray hole. Proper grip is your pinky hanging off the bottom. With that said, when gripped correctly, it gives you one of the best ways to hold it since you're fingers completely wrap around it like a fist, where as some of the sprays available, you're holding it like a spray can, which leaves the front open and not as secure of a grip.

I took a self defense class and it was recommended that if we were to have a pepper spray to get one with a flip top since high stress situations tend to decrease our ability to use our fine motor skills (like with most pepper sprays where you have to move a small piece and then press down). I keep this on my keychain and plan to buy another one for when I go running.

Heavy gel with dye in it. No blowback from the wind. Awesome product, my wife never leaves home without it!!

Have not had to use it yet and hope I never do. But I can tell you from what must've been a light residue on the outside of the container that the stuff works. For the first couple of days every time I would touch the container my hands would start to burn. I'm guessing the stuff inside is very powerful! Wash the outside of the container with soap and water and it's not too bad now.

You can't go wrong with Ruger I don't know what the negative ads are about I grew up in a military law enforcement family this is the real deal and it absolutely will save your life

This was recommended by a self defense class I took as one of the best personal pepper sprays. I feel more confident having purchased it for myself and for my daughters.

I ordered the key chain version because it's smaller and pocket sized. Instead I got the giant one with the belt clip. It's not convenient to carry and it's even more inconvenient to return. Bummer.
