Overall, happy
Bought this a couple of weeks ago to replace a dying laptop. Overall, pretty happy with it but it does come with some quirks. To start of with, the unit doesn't come with the BBEN logo as displayed in the picture. I assume this is a pretty generic unit as the Chuwi HiBox also looks remarkably similar, however, I don't think that's too much of an issue. Turning on for the first time was fine, the unit came with a US plug but was bundled with an adapter so no issue there. For general performance over the last couple of weeks, I am quite impressed. Admittedly I don't do anything too strenuous (streaming, general browsing) but I have a VPN and anti-virus running in the background at all times and haven't come across any major hiccups. The WiFi performance could be better, my phone and Macbook register 100Mbps on my WiFi, however, this seems to sit around the 15-20Mbps. In all honesty, for what I need, that speed is generally good enough. With the LAN, speeds are the same but I am using a repeater and I think the bottleneck lies there (my PS4 connected by LAN registers a similar speed). Bluetooth also connects fine to a soundbar I have sitting across the room. However, my biggest gripe with the BBEN PC comes when the unit auto-shuts down. At first I didn't alter the default auto-sleep/shutdown settings and after a while, the PC would power itself down i.e. the blue light on the front would turn off (not sure if that's sleep, hibernation or shutdown). When I turn it back on, the PC would power up, the TV screen would show the American Megatrends BIOS screen and then go black and my TV would tell me it is not receiving a signal. I would then have to force a shutdown (hold power/pull out the cable) and then turn on again. This would then solve the issue. Maybe it does hibernate and I am not being patient enough but in the times it happened, I was in a hurry. This issue doesn't happen if I shut down the computer myself. I have now also changed the settings that the computer does not shut itself down and so remains on all the time. Considering all of this, I am happy with the product. For the price, 4GB RAM, 64GB eMMC and Windows 10 is a pretty good deal in my opinion.
