Product Description Prepare for a healthy pregnancy, an easier labor and a quick recovery with this prenatal fitness educational DVD and mind-body workout. The DVD will teach you: 1.) The changes a woman's body undergoes during pregnancy and how to safely exercise as these occur; 2.) Skills required to more effectively manage the challenging marathon of labor; and 3.) State-of-the-art techniques for strengthening and stretching the essential muscle groups, especially the abdominals and pelvic floor. Strong abdominals will help minimize back problems and promote effective pushing in labor. Research from Columbia University Department of Physical Therapy (2001) showed that women who did the Maternal Fitness prenatal exercise program had a smaller diastasis than those who did not. Diastasis is the separation of the outermost abdominal muscles that occurs with most women during pregnancy, a condition the creator of the Maternal Fitness® program specializes in treating during and after pregnancy. Through this DVD, women receive the core knowledge and skills enabling them to exercise safely throughout their pregnancy, obtain the strength for labor and delivery and get back their core muscles quickly after birth. Review Just a note to thank you for preparing me both physically and mentally for the 'marathon of labor,' as you call it. I started late in my pregnancy, but the Tupler Technique abdominal exercises I learned for pushing and to prevent back problems really worked in labor. I don t think Flynn could have been brought into the world with twenty minutes of pushing without them. Understanding how to push with a strengthened transverse muscle while relaxing the pelvic-floor muscles gave me that mind-body connection so necessary in pushing. I am also pleased to report that I did not have an episiotomy. I feel my recovery was also faster thanks to your program. I have referred and will continue to refer women to the Maternal Fitness® Program. --Elle Macpherson, modelI have been working with Julie Tupler over the past six years. I enthusiastically refer my pregnant patients to her Maternal Fitness® Program. In my experience, her clients are well prepared mentally and physically for labor. Her regimen of abdominal exercises makes for more efficient pushing, and for a more rapid postpartum recovery. --Gae Rodke (M.D., F.A.C.O.G.)I used to have lower back problems and be at my chiropractor once a month; since doing transverse, abdominal, and upper-back exercises my posture has improved so much that I can t even remember the last time I visited my chiropractor. This is, by the way, one of the reasons I am still continuing with the program after I delivered my baby. I would recommend the program to anybody. I feel great and I would contribute most of it to the Maternal Fitness® program. --Caroline Van Scheltinga P.when('A').execute(function(A) { A.on('a:expander:toggle_description:toggle:collapse', function(data) { window.scroll(0, data.expander.$expander[0].offsetTop-100); }); }); About the Actor Julie Tupler, RN, is the Executive Director of spabébé, featuring maternal fitness®, a fitness center and spa for pregnant women and new moms based in New York City.
