These shears are ideal to cut materials made from aramid and para aramid fibers such as Kevlar, Dyneema, Vectran, Spectra, Technora, Nomex, Innegra, Dacron and other materials made from fiberglass and carbon fiber in rope, ribbon, thread, tape and fabric form. Its blades are made of high carbon alloy steel from Japan and are infused with Molybdenum and Vanadium (HRC 60~62) through a proprietary manufacturing process to achieve a level of hardness (HV1200) to cut high tech material. It can be used to cut materials made from carbon fiber, glass fiber, plastic, canvas, vinyl, leather, suede, leatherette, nylon, silk, cotton, for upholstery, headliner, cloth, string or other knitted forms. The cutting performance is great across the length of the blade. Quick and accurate trimming can be done with sharp edges. They can also be used to make relief cuts during the lay up process to fit the reinforcement into the mold. Cut hanging fibers along the cutting edge of the fabric cleanly. Cut fiber thread off the fiber optic cable neatly to install connectors. Also used for splicing all type of halyards, sheets, topping lifts, lazyjacks and control lines. Review: great shears - I use these for cutting technora/spectra/kevlar cordage, and they work great for that. probably cut a few hundred lengths and haven't had to replace them yet. Though they are certainly not as sharp as they were. Review: Best scissors or sheets I’ve owned. - I bought these five years ago when I couldn’t find anything else to cut dyneema lines easily with. They go through them like butter. I’ve been using them regularly for 5 years now and they are still like new. This morning I had to dive under our boat to cut a crab pot loose from our prop. I initially brought a knife which wouldn’t even begin to cut through the synthetic line they used. Got thee scissors out, swam back down and in a single snip cut through that line multiple times to untangle the prop. I may be giving these as gifts this year to fellow sailors. They are invaluable.

WORK GREAT WITH A MULTITUDE OF MATERIALS
These are great scissors (shears). I purchases them generically for tough material cutting (non-work-place), and have so far cut heavy cotton fabric, plastic packing (~2mm), light synthetic cord, 3mm Kevlar fabric and 3-4mm leather. It has easily cut through all of it, and given great control while doing so. The micro-serrations on the one blade really do hold the material in place for the cutting blade to do the work. I've been very happy with my purchase and would happily buy again if I thought these won't probably last my life-time.

Cuts through Amsteel/Dyneema like hot knife in soft butter...
I purchased these scissors to make splicing easy with new rope material including Dyneema and other strong fibres. I had seen similar scissors used in videos to make splicing of these ropes and it looked so easy. Normal scissors will not cut Dyneema (It will tear each fibre while making the scissors dull very quickly). These will make a clean cut all the time. I have included a few pictures of the soft-shackles and splicing I have done as well as part of my splicing kit. I would recommend these scissors to anyone looking into cutting similar fibres and material. It is amazing to see how easy it makes the job.
