seems to work pretty good
I do wish the website offered a more instruction for DIY types, as far as hooking to existing water supply.

Excellent Product - Made in USA
These Merrill frost-proof hydrants work excellently. I pay more for them (than for chinese knockoffs that lowes and everyone else seems to have gone to) for two reasons: They're made in USA and they are engineered better. The mechanics of the lever seems a better design and are easier to adjust. I've bought three of these so far, some for new installation and some for replacing older Simpsons as they wear out. (Simpson also US made, but lowes stopped carrying them a few years back.)

Awesome
Awesome spigot, not hard to operate like other reviews posted. They really need to eat more wheaties or something.

High Quality!!!
Very well built. The open/close mechanism is a little stiff for an old man, but I figure it will loosen up a little over time.

Makes water Non Potable
It says on this thing, Not Potable and you can't run it near a well because it might contaminate the well water. I feel like that's something they should mention somewhere on the page. It seems like they are making a lot of extra work for everyone since you have to wait until it shows up to find this out and they have a no lead version of it for sale as well.

How strong do you have to be?
How strong do you have to be to turn the water off and on? I am 5'7" 165 pounds and can just BARELY pull the handle up to turn it on or down to turn it off! My wife, 5'2" 108 pounds can't turn it on/off at all! Is this right? If not....is there an adjustment?
