Great quality and flavor
Next time I’ll buy the larger bags as the small ones have so much packaging waste.

These chestnuts are unlike any other nuts that I've ever eaten
I really wish that I didn't need to assign a star rating to this item because this was my only experience with pre-roasted-and-peeled chestnuts, and somebody who actually knows something about them from other sources might find them to be either wonderful or terrible. And to make things worse, I was told that I'm the "first to review this product". Sigh . . .My reasons for ordering them were curiosity and the fact that I like almost all nuts. I was guessing at the time that I placed the order that they'd be similar to other roasted nuts -- maybe like large hazelnuts, which the exterior sorta resembles. But no -- these were moist and soft. However . . . maybe that's what they're SUPPOSED to be like? I mean (for example), I genuinely like an Asian fruit called "durian" despite the fact that most Americans seem to find them stomach-turning. Maybe the same situation here (but with me being a non-fan)?They looked fine in appearance, and the taste was acceptable enough that I'll finish eating them eventually (i.e. they didn't seem to be spoiled). But I won't be re-ordering them. And in the event that genuine chestnut-lovers deem them to be fine, then my only grievance would be the claim that they're "Great for snacking" (which seems like a bit of a stretch, under the circumstances).UPDATE: I liked the second bag better than the first, and also found that another (seemingly-more-knowledgeable) review was submitted that gave it 5 stars, So I upped my own rating by 1 star.

Maybe I'm in a different chestnut world
I always have roasted and peeled my own. I make a stuffing that is a family recipe. I was shocked to see that these were black (not moldy or anything like that, just black) and had an odd flavor (compared to the ones I'm used to). I tried to order some from another company (off of Amazon) and it was the same result. I normally used the ones you could buy in the grocery stores at least in the midwest. When I roast them, they are light brown.

They were nice, good, Clean.
It has been many years since I had eaten chestnuts. I remember a little sweetness to them. these were sweet, the overall taste was good, but i didn't care for the texture. I thought they would be a little meatier, But Like I said it has been years. I was a child, now I am over retirement age. It's a tough comparison.

If you like chestnuts, you will love these.
Unlike cooking your own which is a lot of work....putting a slice in the skin, boiling them, and then roasting them....and they do not all turn out soft and yummy....these are the same each time. They are soft and delicious. You have to like chestnuts though. These do not taste like any other nut. These are soft, moist, and can be a bit grainy. I love them! Most people that I have offered them to have not enjoyed them. Guess you had to be raised on them.

There’s not too much chestnuts in this packages
I don’t understand why some people said that the taste is bad. This chestnuts are delicious and I eat them like candy and love them! The only issue is that there’s way too little chestnuts in those packages I purchased the 30 packs today and I already ate 2 packs of them other than that great products!
