Note that this review is for the SECOND (revised, expanded, whatever you wish to call it) version of "Waldlust", which just came out in 2018, and not the original, 2012 book by the same name (and which had a different cover photo). This Second Edition is expanded with a considerably larger number of photographs (promotional literature described the original version as 160 pages and "over 150" photos, while this new edition is 176pp and "over 200 pictures").All the models are Caucasian, with a single exception, and are universally gorgeous and -- to my recollection -- without any tattoos (thank God!). So, what's not to like? Just this: unlike the coated paper stock (basically what you might call semi-glossy) on which his earlier books like "Volcanic Girls", "Alpengluhn" and "Bavarian Landlust" are printed, this time he went with a flat matte surface that, honestly, makes the images just look like good-quality color photocopies like I could do at my home printer. This means that you do NOT get the "fine-grain" detail that had been the case in the past, and I found that very bothersome.Some folks might like this "softer", perhaps more "arty" effect, but I do not think it works for this kind of exuberant, outdoors-in-nature type of subject (as opposed, perhaps, to studio work). I'm looking forward to acquiring a copy of the first edition -- which I've tracked down -- and doing some image-by-image comparisons.Bottom line: I sure hope Mr. Soell goes BACK to his traditional paper-stock choice for future books!

I can not get the first edition. I had been waiting so long and so excited as I got this 2nd edition. But, the printing quality is so bad, not clear at all. It is not comparable to Stefan's previous books at all. I have to return it although I want to collect all his books. What A Pity!!!

I make no apologies for playing with the title of this review. By all means purchase this book, but do so in full knowledge of what you are buying.This review concerns the ‘updated’ 2nd edition of this title. Yes it contains more photos. Yes the photographs themselves are stunning and the models are beautiful. The landscape photography of Soell is simply gorgeous with a depth of field and tonal quality second to none. If he produced a book of just landscapes I would probably buy it. However, all this is wasted since the book uses a matt finish paper which looses all the depth and colour saturation of the basic photographs. To give you an idea of what this means, take any picture on your computer and print it out on a gloss finish photographic paper and then again on ordinary matt paper that you would use for letter printing and compare the two. This is the second book he has done this, ‘Atlantic Sirens’ was just the same. All his previous books used high quality gloss paper giving you the feel of almost photographic quality. I don’t think it is a cost issue, as I for one would happily pay more for the gloss finish. The books are not hyper expensive. Having purchased all his previous titles I will not be buying any further until he reverts to the gloss finish paper. Hundreds of his pictures are available on the web, the only point of buying a book of a limited selection is essentially to feel you have a true photographic quality reproduction.I purchased this title as it would allow a direct comparison, picture by picture with the 1st edition and so I would recommend, if you want this particular title for the pictures themselves, then buy a second hand copy of the 1st edition. Yes there are fewer pictures but at a far higher quality.So you know which is which: the 1st edition has a ¾ view of a partly clothed girl standing with a bird on her left hand, and the 2nd edition has a full view of a naked girl sitting on a wooden pontoon next to some water.

Quelle déception, tres beau livre avec de belles photos mais gachées par une impression et un papier plus que médiocre :$... Inaccéptable à ce prix :$ ... Esperons qu' il y aura une réedition de meilleur qualité avec une impression et du papier de qualité...
