Riot Grrrl: Revolution Girl Style Now!

I loved the phenomenon that was Riot Grrrl, it was a breath of fresh air full of passion and empowerment and, for me at least, it was a time of some great music. So when i came across this book i knew i just had to have it. The book is full of great photographs/images of bands, album/single covers and fanzines. It is no doubt very well written by people who were/are involved in the movement but what i'd really hoped for was an in depth look at the music/bands who epitomized the revolution, but unfortunately only one chapter in the book is devoted to this subject. The rest, and bulk of the book, is a very detailed exploration of the philosophy and politics of the activists involved and although often enlightening i did find myself hoping for a little more lightweight material, but maybe that was just wishful thinking on my part and was never the intention of the authors. I doubt you'll find a more comprehensive book on this subject and if that's what you're after it's definitely a 5 star offering but for me and my more blinkered expectations it's a lesser mortal.
