Rigid Design, Quality Built
This is a nice, robust looking unit. So far it has worked flawlessly. The instructions are a little short in description, but any guy who is handy enough can figure it out. I did have one issue which thus far doesn't appear to be an issue at all. I noticed when I switched on the load from the menu on the controller, the amber ALARM led lit up constant. This occurred whether a load was actually connected or not. I called the AIMS Tech Service and I have to say, I must have been talking to someone new. He did not seem to be sure why it was doing that and asked me to send in the unit for testing. This was inconvenient as I had just installed it a few days before. Not wanting to risk a fire I followed his directions. Shipping there and back was extremely fast. A three day turn around. They ended up sending me another brand new unit. When I hooked it up again, same issue, amber ALARM led with load on. Manual does not express what this is. However, everything works as expected, load works, batteries charge, etc., etc. Does not appear to be a problem. It seems as though the amber light just signifies that the load feature is switched on. I did email AIMS and explained this to them and never got a reply. That was disappointing. Nevertheless, the unit does appear to be working and doing what it is designed to do. It’s only been about 2 months so I will update if anything negative happens. If no update then it’s still working great. I do believe at this point I am going to be buying another one for my other solar system.

I am sure the unit will work fine. Manual is a little lacking and they should ...
I have not hooked up panels to it yet, only the battery and solar cable leads. But with the exception of the fairly minor annoyances noted below, I am sure the unit will work fine. Manual is a little lacking and they should send a magnifying glass with it to read. Look up the manual online which you can actually read. No explanation of how to press buttons to change settings. Through trail and error you can figure it out. One screen which shows watts, volts etc. (4 items on one screen) cannot be user set but rather sets itself when you hook up solar panels, but nowhere in manual does it mention that. Not everyone has a computer close by to hookup comm port to change settings. The clamps in the plastic housings on bottom that accept your power and solar wires seem flimsy. Be careful if you have to move controller with wires attached because it looks like the housings that the wires are in could possibly break, and the screw that tightens the battery and solar wires in the clamps is real small and takes a lot of force to hold in wires firmly so be careful not to strip phillips head screws. I used 6 gauge wire for battery leads which fit clamps but difficult to tighten down. Also no mention of best location to attach the temp. sensor on battery. (tape near the negative battery post) I have not hooked up panels to it yet, only the battery and solar cableleads.

Four years running with aims equipment. Extraordinary service and equipment
I have been running an aims power inverter 4000w for 4 years. After the warranty had expired by 1 week I had a problem due to my own fault . I called the company and even told them that I caused the problem and the product was one week over the warranty. Aims Power Equipment told me they would cover it anyhow. I have nothing to say except the company builds sound rugged high quality Equipment from my experience. I have yet to receive the controller, but called the company and found out that the connectors are hard connected. No flaky spring connections. I already have a control box for my solar and 80 amp and it already caught on fire because of the flaky spring-loaded connections. I've had enough headaches and decided to spend the extra money and get a real product. Granted some complain about the software blah blah blah. My experience tells me I can connect the product and I am done. No problems with the unit.

Solid Engineering
This unit replaced a Renogy 40 amp that lasted about a year before it just quit working one day. Renogy solar panels are great but their controllers are crap. Don't waste your money. Comparing the Aims controller to a Renogy controller is like comparing a Mercedes Benz to a Ford Fiesta. The difference in quality and ease of use is that dramatic. I was so impressed with the Aims controller that I replaced a Xantrex 2000w converter with an Aims 4000w converter. The Xantrex would not power my 15,000 btu air conditioner. It would just shut down. The Aims powers my AC, my microwave and TV all at the same time with no problem. The units have only been in use for a few months so we will see about their durability but these are impressive units so far.

Missing ability to connect MT50 remote monitor.
Has a rs485 port but does not function with any MT50 remote monitor. Hard to see how unit is functioning when I have to access outside compartment where it is installed.

So far, so good for a 30A MPPT controller
After waiting for AIMS and others to get this unit back in stock, I picked it up for $120. There is a small LCD display, NO fan which is a good thing for my garage set up. I believe the 458 connector will be useless until there is some software developed IF ever. However, the unit is working fine and delivering power to the batteries. Comes with a 2 year warranty and I purchased a 4 year one since the price was less than the cost of shipping.....

Loved it but now i got a wierd problem
I thinks it more of a love hate relationship. Ive had this unit a little over 6 months and for the most part i love it... fanless so it quiet, backlight nice and bright when on and turns off after 5 or 10 secs, mppt, flexable, and easy to understandThe bad... the manuel just forget it even comes with one download the pdf much much better. the ports are a little small so wire ferruls are your best buddy i was able to get some 10 awg in but i dont think you can get much bigger. Now for the kicker its gotten weaker with time idk if it the season changeing or my setup but when i got it my batteries where always topped off with this unit then it started dropping off so i thought easy fix added panels now idk anymore about it. I think its starting to drain my batteries instead of chargeing them when its connected to the system
