Excellent Buy! I Love it.
I received this today. It comes with a cord that appears to be fairly well made. It comes with a CD of some sorts, but I don't have a player, so I can't access the CD to get instructions. LOLSo, I tried it! I plugged it into USB port on Windows 10 and tried to use my software. It said the com port was invalid. I tried selecting each of the 20 com ports with no luck. When searching for drivers, I found the instructions (I attached a picture). When I followed the listed steps, I found a device on COM4. (OOPS! I apparently skipped testing that one port when I checked the other 19!)So, it works. I ran MCP-1A [TM-271/281A-1], and set the com port to 4. It works like a champ. The great thing about this for me is that I can load all the ham frequencies in one - I have a list of all standard 2-meter pairs in one package together with all the repeaters I can hear or hit. I can overwrite them with public service frequencies if I would rather scan police, fire, etc. Or I can load any combination of frequencies I want. Or a special list of frequencies if I am traveling.I am quite pleased. This was the cheapest of the ones I found without having it shipped from China!Thank you KENMAX!

It worked in Linux & Windows 10 with out needing to install any Drivers ...
for the cable. We did NOT use the cd that came withe the cable or even put it in the drive. - no idea even whats on the cd. The cable worked with Chirp on Linux and The Kenwood windows software. No Issues on this one so far, possible issues may come later with Micro Crap OS. Note that when programming with Chirp to Kenwood 281A there is no upload to it - its an almost instant change to memories 'Live update'. Now the cable may not work down the road but it is working for now. The purpose was served.

Supports Linux/CHIRP
This worked on Linux plug and play connecting CHIRP to a Kenwood TM-281a. I was able to program it quickly. Would recommend for anyone using CHIRP to connect to compatible radios.
