Not for Windows 10 or USB 3.0
Rating is based on both a Windows 10 computer and a Windows 7 computer with USB 3.0 ports.. This item could not be made to work satisfactory with Windows 10, even with Win 10 software workaround, in spite of the best efforts of Verizon technical support, and my local Verizon factory store. Also will not work on with a Windows 7 computer with USB 3.0 ports. Verizon tech says that I need a USB 2.0 port. To sum up, these devices, although very good performers in their day, appear to have been obsoleted by changing technology.

Works great.
My friends had this unit for their internet connection on their PC and it worked when it felt like it. We went to the local Verizon store to get a replacement. First off they could not test it in the store. BUT they could sell us a new one for something like 20 dollars with a 2 year contract PLUS A 40 DOLLAR ACTIVATION FEE !!!! What the heck. They could not even test it and they wanted us to buy another one? PLUS all the fee's and another 2 year contract? I told my friends I would go to Amazon and see if I could get one cheaper. Well this was ALOT cheaper and looks brand new. It arrived promptly. I switched the SIM card and it works PERFECTLY. Would definitely buy again. At this point I was going to say something derogatory about Verizon but I will refrain myself from that at this time. Since this is a product review.

Poor signal
I purchased this (along with a Peplink Pepwave Surf On-The-Go Wi-Fi Router SUS-AGN1) to replace my hotspot (Verizon MiFi 4620LE) which was unreliable. This product works, but not well enough for my needs. This device does connect and allow me to work for a while, but it is plagued with constant disconnects which is the same problem I was having with my hotspot (even with an external antenna attached). However, between the time that I placed the order for this and the time it arrived, my hotspot failed and I received a new hotspot (Verizon Jetpack MHS291LVW) from my provider (Millenicom) which works quite well compared to this. For anyone looking to create their own Verizon hotspot, I would skip it, and just spend the money on the Verizon Jetpack MHS291LVW.

Doesn't work
I ordered this device in high expectations and over joyed with the prospect that I would soon be rid of that wifi hotspot dinosaur. I was sorely disappointed that after 2.5 hours on the phone with a Verizon tech we just couldn't get it to work. Unfortunately I had to send it back and am now back to using this clunker hotspot.Verizon should have put a ring on it so it could attach a lanyard and wear it as medallion around my neck. Look like Johnny Cool. I think Verizon is just a rip off corporation. The uml290 has been retired and its replacement is the uml295. They give it away free to new subscribers, but for their long term contract subscribers they tell you to go fish. $200.00 for you sucker.I ordered the Verizon LG VL600 4G LTE USB AirCard Clean ESN VL-600. I hope that this works but I am doubtful. I will look for another ISP when my contract is up and will get rid of their home phone connect as well. They don't know how to keep their customers.

Well suited for the intended application
To connect to Verizon 4G data services you would normally use a Mifi device instead of a USB dongle, and normally you would get the device from your service provider. For my application I needed a device that could connect to a secure VPN router and this product fit the bill. At a cost of $20 it was well worth the money.

Great Service Computer Gadget!
Wonderful! I already had this product from Verizon, for almost two years. It broke. My choices from Verizon were two: (1) Sign another two year contract and buy the "replacement" modem for $99.99 or (2) Buy now without contract for $279.00; I love that the extension cable came with it so i can mount to top of computer and i get a much better signal It also came with CD and Directions.. Verizon did not even mention the usb cable extension thing.. I explained to Verizon that this was not an upgrade, but a replacement! Verizon "unconcerned" and offered no choices other than the above. I bought this modem from iCellPhones, it came a day early and I replaced the sim card per instructions in the little book and I was up and running..and I am not a computer or electronic whiz..I am a 62 yr woman that just likes to play games and shop online! Fortunately, when my contract expires in May..I may be exploring other connection options..but one thing for sure..I have a "NEW" go to place to electronic and computer widgets. Thanks so much! .Sharon

No Sim Card/Program DVD
This item worked for me simply because I already had a SIM Memory Card from a broken modem. So I switched it to the new one and was able to get online. But if your not replacing a broken modem as I was, you be very dissapointed with this product. I don't know how they can sell something that doesn't come with half of the parts like that.

Pantech USB Modem
The Pantech model ULM290 Aircard for use on the Verizon network ought to be avoided. The unit functions with VZ Access software from Verizon. The unit will randomly drop the internet connection requiring rebooting of the unit, the software, or both. Verizon could not generate a fix for the unit.
