Our Premium Thunderbird Mexican Yoga blankets are hand woven and made of soft materials and are easily washable. These beautiful heavyweight blankets come in many colors. Please understand that these blankets are made in different villages throughout Mexico so there may be some slight variations in the pattern from the picture shown. Mexican blankets are used frequently in Iyengar and restorative yoga practices. They can be used folded under sitting poses to cushion bones and joints, underneath you in repose positions to insulate from cold flooring, rolled or folded to provide support in poses, or just as a cover to warm you in Savasana. The Thunderbird (Golindrina) represents a bird of power and strength in certain North American indigenous cultures. Its name comes from the belief that its wings cause thunder and stir the wind. Our Premium Thunderbird Blankets are made with a tight weave, are larger, thicker and warmer than our Classic Blankets offering more cushioning and insulation. As mentioned previously, the blankets may vary from what is pictured. Some of the variations could be that some blankets have solid-colored thunderbirds, while others have multi-colored birds. Some blankets may have different colored thunderbirds, while others have the same colored bird throughout. Shades of color can also vary from blanket to blanket. These blankets are handmade in different villages of Mexico and so each shipment we receive can be different.

Worth 5 Stars But...
This blanket is really a 5-star blanket. They're durable, beautiful, and quality however... I intentionally purchased tan because the photo showed some aqua thunderbirds on them which I preferred over the grey that had the birds in an orange and navy pattern. But when I received the tan blanket, it was in the orange and navy pattern. If I would have known it wouldn't have the aqua birds, I would have opted for the grey (which is now no longer available / sold out). It's alright though... I'm just being extra picky! The blanket is still perfectly functioning and great quality!

I'm very pleased with the quality of this blanket
I'm very pleased with the quality of this blanket. It's fairly heavy and it looks the way I expected and hoped it would.Based on a couple of the other reviews, I wasn't sure the color of the actual thunderbirds would be similar to the combination in the photograph, but they are. The thunderbirds are in shades of blue on a charcoal gray background.

Love the colors and design
Love the colors and design, but the acrylic yarn has very short fibers (and some metallic tinsel), which shed everywhere. I'm guessing it's made from recycled materials, although this isn't advertised in the description. Hopefully some of the shedding will stop after a few washings.

Beautiful
I love these blankets. Super durable and not itchy at all. They’re not super soft but they’re gorgeous and warm. They also look great on the back of a couch. Also I know you’re not supposed to- but I’ve washed and dried mine and they came out fine.

Satisfied purchase
Very soft and beautiful blanket. thicker than I had expected and def a whole lot softer. I purchased the mint color and it's gorgeous! I also bought some other Mexican blankets (multicolored ones) and compared to them this one is more "rustic" in that the fibers are not as neat and tidy as a machine weave but it's hand woven and that is what I like about this blanket. The only complaint I have is one stitch that is unraveling on a bird but that's fixable and not a deal breaker for me-I've seen far worse with more expensive blankets. I would like to purchase more colors of these in the near future.
