Does the job.
After reading some reviews about not burning I was a bit wary of buying this but it worked fine for me. After clearing out some overwintering plants from the greenhouse I made sure the wick was straight and in the middle. Lit the wick then left it. It burned for well over 6 hours and produced loads of smoke. It burned completely leaving only a bit of ash in the bottom.Seems to have done the trick with all the bugs that have moved into the greenhouse and not noticed any powdery residue or damage following use although it does still smell a bit of sulphur now.Overall would recommend just make sure the wick is straight and move some of the sulphur away from it when lighting it.

waste of time and money
Worst sulphur candle I have ever used. Touch paper went out within 30 seconds... I left it for a while just incase. When I inspected it the touch paper had burnt down to the level of the yellow crystals then gone out. Welded in place totaly Unuseable... I would recommend everyone stayed away from this product. Emailed the manufacturer who was not in the slightest bit bothered.

I will never use this product again.
I used the candle in a brick & cedar wood greenhouse to kill pests. The candle burnt as expected & produced lots of noxious fumes, the smell was still evident a few weeks later despite good ventilation. However, the fumes have damaged the metal hinges of the window to such an extent that two don't now open at all. The product does state that it can damage metal & so I had removed all metal products before use but clearly couldn't remove hinges. The damage to the hinges has cost me lots of time and hassle as the windows are effectively rusted shut & I cant access the screw to remove hinges.I will never use the product again and would suggest extreme caution for anyone considering using it.

Try, try, try again. And then give up and get something else.
I read the reviews that said how difficult this candle is to light but I thought I could do better. WRONG! I made two attempts with the 'wick' provided (a bit of paper) and then I tried a proper wick with a little base to hold it down. Still no joy. I'll try one last time but don't hold your breath!I would have given it only one star but 'hate' is a word I don't like to use.

Use it every year
I use this every year to fumigate my greenhouse before putting any plants in. It works well providing the instructions are followed - it is advisable to ensure that at least 2 cm of wick is above the sulphur before lighting - it may appear not to have lit initially, but is very slow burning and I have never had one which failed to light. You can tell it has worked by the tin blackening all the way down (once the smoke has cleared!)
