Not HDR, not 1080P, no good
This item is not HDR. It does not appear to be 1080P. I suspect it is not OLED. I have tried it with multiple devices and none see it as HDR. On 1080P, pixels do not line up properly. Avoid this product at all costs.

The VILVA 13.3 inch 1080p portable display is an actual OLED display because you can test it out multiple ways: Go to a pitch dark room and bring any IPS device like an old iPhone (SE2, SE3, iPhone 11, etc.). Find a pure black image or even a pure black video on youtube (yes these exists). You will see the display turn pitch black unlike super dark grey on IPS displays. The colors when set to "User" or sRGB, anything other than default which is heavy blue makes the display very vibrant. There's also "MURA" which are OLED flaws like faint streaks or greenish discoloration when showing darker scenes/videos. These flaws are different for every OLED panel. The one I got is fairly faint and very hard to see when you're not looking for it. Viewing angles are better than IPS. It is quite bright indoors at max brightness settings. For about $ 120, it's quite affordable but it does have a lot of quirks: The OSD is buggy. Sometimes it blacks out and resets itself when changing HDR, Variable Refresh, color space, etc. I had to replug it sometime because it would just be a pure black display with power lights on. I just stuck with SDR and messed with some of the OSD settings and I vastly prefer this over its HDR performance. Another YouTube reviewer also mentioned this but on a different OLED monitor. The OSD is now BUGGED and became a basic GUI that have lost some of its features like changing color space, etc. Still looks great. Never got VRR to work because it just resets the OSD everytime I use it. I'd rate it lower to 4 stars due to the buggy OSD if this was priced anywhere higher than $ 120. While far from perfect, the display is amazing for $ 120 and I do have experience with many types of displays like IPS, VA, FALDS, wOLED, Super AMOLED, etc. Edit (06/23/2025): Works so far with Nintendo Switch 2 but I only use it in the monitor's sRGB mode (non HDR) because it just looks much better this way, at least with my unit. It seems to bug out (intermittent black screen every now and then) when I use the 3.5mm audio port on the side of this 13.3 inch 1080p OLED display but it doesn't bug out if I directly use the 3.5mm audio port on the Switch 2 itself while the Switch 2 is docked. Still very happy with this purchase.

EXCELLENT FOR VALUE

This review is for the 13.3" OLED model. I'm not sure if the problems listed here apply to the other models. My guess is probably for the firmware issues. My main issue is that some custom settings like the color temperature and contrast are stored on the device, but they are not used when the device is powered off and powered on again. If you go into the OSD again and look at the settings, you can see the values are still set to your chosen settings, but they're not in effect. Changing any of these settings even by one point will suddenly make all custom settings immediately take effect again, but it won't persist when the device is rebooted. The color calibration is a little off to my eye and the contrast is so high that it's affecting text legibility a little, which is why this annoying. I'm making do with some color calibration on the PC side. Another small issue is that Windows doesn't recognize when this monitor is off. That can be annoying if you want to keep this monitor off when not in use. I deal with this using Dual Monitor Tools to set up sticky mouse movement between monitors. It's also pretty glossy if that bothers you. I think I might try an anti-glare filter on it. In my case, this is only meant to be on occasionally when I need a secondary monitor for a video or chat feed. It's nice to have my secondary monitor be OLED like my primary monitor, and the price is hard to turn down for this use case. I'm probably sticking with it.

This is a beautiful screen. If it were 14" that might be worth 5 stars, but the 13" size is def a 1 star reduction. The cover / stand, on the other hand, is the worst piece of equipment I have encountered. I guess its OK as a cover, but as a stand it is worse than worthless. If it were worthless one might not even try to use it. But this thing ALMOST stays on the screen. It ALMOST works as stand, though it will inevitably fall. Will it fall in 30 seconds? Will it stay up for a full hour before it just collapses? Who knows, I just know that it will collapse several times in every session I try to use it. Thankfully I have a 3D printer & can adapt an iPad stand for it, but I shouldn't have to . I have three other USB monitors that all manage to stay standing. It just shouldn't be that hard.

Great external monitor, I'm using it with my Rog Ally X, with a TB4 cable it delivers both display signal and power to the monitor. Great image, OLED HDR really makes the color pop. The monitor itself is very thin and easy to carry. The only complaint I have is the stand itself slips easily on surfaces.
