The Coming Storm (Pirates of the Caribbean: Jack Sparrow, No. 1)

We just finished watching Pirates of the Caribbean and my family wasn't ready to let go of Captain Jack yet. Kids 8 and 10 are enjoying this book so much. The plot is easy to follow, filled with adventure and just enough danger to keep them engaged but not give them nightmares. I can see they will be wanting more so thankfully there are other books in the series.

I bought this book as reading material for fourth grader in my extended family. He likes pirates and so it was appropriate. It is not a quality piece of literature; just a marketing ploy by Dinsey. Yet, it is a cute, predictable and humourous account of a young Jack Sparrow. It is slightly vague in its discriptions because it is dependent on the reader having seen the pirate movie trilogy. Also, it simply is an introduction to the characters in the movie. It's about adventures, not Jack's history, which I thought it might be. Beware: there is usage of pirate dialect and Spanish words which may be difficult for little readers to decipher.

This book was for my grandson, he hasn’t finished reading it yet. I did ask him if he liked it and he said he did.

My son absolutely loves these series! This series has brought out his passion for reading and he is even able to take reading tests on them at his school. So not only has this book encouraged awesome reading habits, but his grades are sky-rocketing!

Product was advertised as “like new,” but pages were yellow, book cover was torn, and pages were turned down. It was very worn and not worth more than 50 cents. I was very disappointed!
