Excellent Choice
This review of Samsung’s Galaxy S8 is from a non-techie’s perspective. If you’re looking for specifications with detailed information, I suggest you read reviews from droidlife, tomsguide, trustedreviews, etc. (Amazon will not allow us to post direct links in our reviews, sorry.)Please see the categories below for my comments about Samsung’s Galaxy S8 phone.APPEARANCE: This S8 model is a sleek black. The beveled (curved) edges allow for a full visual experience. While there are larger screens on the market, this screen gives a satisfying, large view.Icons are either individual or bundled. For example, ‘Featured Apps’, ‘Samsung’, and ‘Sprint’ (my service provider) are bundled into one icon. Once you tap the icon, there are several options you have within it.Much like Amazon’s Paperwhite e-reader, the Galaxy S8’s screen display is black and white when in sleep mode. This is a plus as it doesn’t consume any battery while displaying the time, date, and percentage of battery power remaining.BATTERY LIFE: The S8 has far more battery life than my previous one. With normal talking, texting, and about 45 minutes of game playing it holds enough power to make it through the next day without another charge.I opted for the Fast Wireless Charger instead of the typical one that plugs into the wall outlet and into the phone. With this one, you place the phone onto the charger (about the size of a saucer and smaller than a bread plate). When correct contact is made, a blue light appears on the side of the charger and it emits a soft tone. Charging is approximately 30% faster with this charger.TRAVEL CHARGING: If you want to charge your phone while in the car, no special car charger is needed. Plug your phone with the connector provided and put it into the USB port in your car.SECURITY FEATURES: The S8 allows you to unlock your phone via iris recognition or your fingerprint. The future is here! And my only comment is, “Wow!”TEXTING: The key pad is comfortably spaced and after a short period of use, is able to anticipate wording you typically use. This phone is capable of letting you use your voice to write your SMS texts. For those who aren’t quick, this is a wonderful feature.SOUND: The only negative I find is that when using the S8 in a setting with a lot of background noise, it is difficult to hear clearly. Since speech must be heard distinctly, this may be a drawback. Even when using the speaker this can be a problem. Unless you spend a lot of time in such an environment, this shouldn’t stop you from considering buying the Samsung Galaxy S8.Using the phone for music, gaming, and the various ringtones presents no problem.SIZE: With an Otterbox case, the Galaxy S8 measures 6.2” in length and 3.2” in width.WEIGHT: Including the Otterbox case, the S8’s weight is 7.5 oz.FINAL COMMENT: From the research I did before making my purchase, I contrasted the Samsung Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8 Plus, and iphones. I thought about switching to an iphone and was open to that option. But, after consideration, decided that the Samsung Galaxy S8 met my needs.By the way, according to the various technical reviews, the next new iphone will not be on the market prior to September, 2017.RATING: For Appearance, Battery Life, Travel Charging, Security Features, Texting, Size, and Weight, the Galaxy S8 rates five stars. For (overall) Sound, it rates four stars. Since rating is possible only with whole stars, and the phone is great in all its other features, it rates five stars. After using my new Samsung Galaxy S8 phone for a couple weeks, I can tell you that I’m pleased with my choice. So, is this phone for you? After reading user reviews, and professional research, you should be able to make a good decision.UPDATE: After the initial free (two weeks) use of Voicemail to Text, I have been attempting to add this feature to my phone. I have made three trips to the Sprint store and spoken with three different sales associates, plus the repair technician. They all give me different answers. Some say it can't be done on the Samsung Galaxy S8. Others say it must be done via a different credit card than my Sprint account, as it is accessed via a third party. I'm told it's $2.99 per month (and it's already on my bill) , as well as being told it is $4.99 paid quarterly through my Sprint account. I spent more than two hours on the phone with Sprint's Customer Service and wound up speaking with a supervisor. She told me sign-up at SprintPCS.com. Guess what? It can't be done.If there is anyone from Samsung or Sprint reading this review, PLEASE tell me how to access this feature. And it would be ever so helpful if you would inform all your sales associates and customer service reps as to how your customers can add this feature without these hours of frustration and problems. With the exception of the Voicemail to Text issue, I really like my Samsung Galaxy S8 phone.

It definitely is & it's a great phone. Lightweight
I read the reviews before purchasing to be sure it was the real deal. It definitely is & it's a great phone. Lightweight, comfortable to hold, easy to use, picture quality is amazing. I love it. As someone who has hearing loss, the extra volume option is great. I love this phone.

Not one I would recommend to a friend
Does always go where you want it to. The start screen doesn't always show the calls and you have a hard time answering the calls. Not one I would recommend to a friend.

I will buy my next phone with Boost. P.s. the seller gave a list of thing to try to fix the phone that didnt work. Brought the phone to Boost, they told me it's a hardware issue. All I wanted was to return the phone.
