So much easier than other options!
This pump works great. I can fill my 1.9 gallon kerosene cans in about 35 seconds with just the flip of a switch and no effort. No lifting the fuel can while holding a button to pour, no pumping a manual siphon, just put the siphon in the can, flip a switch, and wait for a few seconds. The one thing to beware of is check for defects before using! My first attempt with this product was… messy. There is an O ring that holds the output tubing onto the main siphon. On the first one I got, that O ring was broken and I didn’t realize it. It pumps pretty fast so in the fraction of a second that it took me to flip the power off, I ended up half covered in kerosene when the pressure pushed the tubing off the main siphon piece.I returned that first one and requested a replacement. I checked for defects FIRST this time and all looked good so cautiously I proceeded to use it. All was good and I have used the 2nd one several times now with no problems.I will never pour from these cans or use a manual siphon with then again!Extra Tip: To use this with standard modern portable fuel cans, you do need to remove the filters that come built into them. This isn’t too terribly difficult to do. There are YouTube videos that show how to pry them out with a screw driver and pliers.

Now I have 3 of them!
One to drain the aquarium. Another to use as a fuel pump and the other for fresh water tank (small ones) draining. Works great. Does the job cleaner than cup fulls of water. I may actually find a need for another!

Great pump, was able to easily fix after it stopped working
I've had this product for about a year now. I use it a couple times per week and have only changed the batteries once. Yes once. This little guy works great. I use it for my hydroponic plant set up to empty out reservoirs and it simplified my life immensely. To get the best flow, you will need to work with gravity, rather than against it - have the hose flowing down from whatever container you are emptying. This transfer pump will work if the hose is level or even if it flowing upward, but the more it has to fight gravity, the more the flow rate reduces. Many people report this pump breaking after a few uses. Well, this happened to me as well. It simply would not turn on after a few months of use and the on/off switch felt slightly jammed. I simply popped off the on/off switch on top of the pump and had to re-position a small metal pin so that there was a sound connection between the batteries and switch. I then snapped the switch back into position and it is working like new (although the switch is a bit stiffer now). I apologize for not being able to provide a better explanation of the fix, but this is one of the simplest pieces of equipment you will encounter. Opening it up and fixing it was like taking apart a McDonalds toy, so definitely give it a shot if yours is broken! This pump is an amazing value, but if Sierra would only spend a couple more bucks on improving their on/off switch, this thing would last years without any issue.

This inexpensive tool works so well! I am impressed!
I used this to drain my hydroponic aero gardens. I have several. Where has this been all my life? The hand pump, which is more expensive that you buy from arrow garden does not work like this at all! This little tool is the stuff of my dreams! I couldn’t recommend it more highly, thank you thank you thank you

Unreliable
I rated the suction as a 5 stars but gave it an overall rating of 1 star. I purchased this in Dec. of 2017 to transfer diesel from 5 gal containers into my tractor. It transfers the diesel quickly and with very little diesel left in the bottom of the container. With that said, that is where the praises end. When I read the reviews before purchasing, many complained of the switch going bad soon after they starting using it. I thought I would take a chance since I only use it 5 or 6 times a year. Unfortunately the reviews were right. After a couple of uses the switch went bad. So I purchased a new better quality switch at the hardware store. Unfortunately the new switch would not make contact with the battery so I soldered a wire on to the switch and was able to solve the problem. After a couple of more uses, the pump would not work again. I discovered that the threads on the battery compartment that screw into the wand were loose and were not holding tight enough to allow contact with the battery. I tried wrapping the threads with plumbers tape, but that didn't work. So now I have to hold the battery compartment and move it around until it makes contact in order to transfer the diesel into the tractor. The pump and the rest of the unit are fine but the electrical is not properly designed. Since I only use it a few times a year, I continue to use it but wonder how long I will be able to hold the battery compartment together to get it to work. If you plan to use this regularly, I would advise you to look for a different brand.

Easy, small and mighty.
I love this pump. I live in Florida we get hurricanes. When we have a storm coming the first thing we must do is get gas to run our generator. We do not have the luxury to wait and see about the storm because we actually run out of gas at all the gas stations. So we have had a few scares with storms but never hit us. Before buying this pump getting rid of several gallons of gas was a nightmare. We have the 5 gallon gas containers they are heavy when full, awkward to hold up to a Suv and pour I even have some gas tanks with a type of vent spout will not fit in Suv. Just a messy aggravating task. This little pump is genius. I pumped 16 gallons of gas in no time at all. I used this to remove as much gas as possible from the generator. I like this little pump so much I purchased a second one and purchased another as a gift for a friend.Like I said about hurricanes sometimes we loose water and I have three bathtubs filled with fresh water and it is also a major pain to retrieve water from the tubs. This pump works like a charm to neatly fill a bucket of water without contaminating the entire tub. No bailing out water and spilling and dripping all over the place. This pump is easy to use small and mighty. The one I use for fuel I have no issues with it breaking down after pumping fuel, as a matter of fact it will be used this weekend to get rid of the fuel purchased for Hurricane Matthew.
