This stuff is amazing. I am in my 40’s now and heard of a thing called nonenal. I didn’t know this existed and it freaked me out. If you don’t know what nonenal is, it’s basically just “old person” smell. We all know that smell. Just think of your grandparents house when you first walk in after not being there in a while. Apparently, nonenal is oils that oxidize and can’t be removed by normal soap. At least that’s my understanding and since it doesn’t get broken down it transfers to clothing, furniture, etc. Anything our bodies come into contact with. Now, we all know that we are the last ones able to smell our own funk but everyone around us can smell it just fine. And what I read it says that nonenal starts in your 40’s. See why I was freaked out now? But I am also going through perimenopause and am paranoid that I smell different because of the hormonal shift. This soap is supposed to be able to break down the greases that cause “old person” smell and also help deodorize hormonal smell too. So I thought I would give it a try. They show you the areas of your body where the smells come from. One of which is behind the ears and back of the neck. I would have never guessed that those areas caused the smell. But I think it’s fair to say that we all know how behind the ears can get real funky if they aren’t washed regularly. Now get ready because I am going to get slightly gross for a minute. I rubbed my finger behind both my ears and smelled and yeah, it wasn’t great, even though I just washed that morning. So I gave the soap a shot and in particular focused on behind the ears. The result were pretty remarkable. I washed behind my ears on day one and then didn’t do it again for 3 days. Constantly smelling that area each day. The smell stayed gone for 2 days and by about the 3rd day it was starting to become slightly noticeable. That made me a believer. So I started using it in all the places the nonenal is at. I start by washing my entire body with regular soap and then at the end of my shower I use this soap in all the places they teach you that nonenal shows up. I have to say that I feel much more confident about how I smell after using it. No one wants to go through hormonal changes but we all have to. At least now we can be more comfortable in our skin while we go through it. I know it’s very expensive for a soap. But it is worth it. And if you only use it on the parts of the body that the nonenal smell comes from you won’t have to buy it again for a couple of months. Lastly, you need to be aware of the many knock offs that are out there. Be careful not to buy a soap that claims to do the same thing for a cheaper price. As far as I know, this is the only brand sold in the U.S. that actually has the ingredients in it that helps with the smell. So only buy this brand and even then be careful that you aren’t being sold a bootleg. It needs to come from Mirai. Even here on Amazon, you need to make sure you buy it from the Mirai store. It would really suck to pay this much for a soap that never worked. All that being said, I know I am not going to be without it, but that’s just me. Hope this long winded review helps.

Not a cure-all for that smell. It is basically covering the smell with a neutralizing smell. However, it is a very good solution. Pleasant scent. Seems like it lasts a little over 24 hrs, maybe 36 depending on your sweat level. Pricey. I will still continue to use this soap.

Good product but the bar melts really fast. Skin was soft and did not have any irritation from it

Very nice soap , lathers well, good strength , pleasant scent , leaves skin soft and clean , also a good size to fit into hands I Liked everything about this soap except the price. I recommend this soap if price is not a concern

I have some skin issues, and normally use CeraVe products. However, I feel at times that it doesn't rinse off properly. I decided to try this to see if I'd like it. I've used one entire bar now, and I can say I love it. I did, however, cut it into fourths with a knife and used a closed soap dish to preserve it in the shower. Scent is great, rinses clean, lasts a while if you take care of it. AND IT WORKS! I'll be repurchasing it for sure.

There has always been a musty smell in my 77 year old husband’s bathroom. We were putting it down to poor ventilation. But we moved this year to a nicer home with all modern fixtures and plenty of bathroom ventilation. Within a month his bathroom started smelling just like the old place. No matter how thoroughly we cleaned it. It wasn’t a matter of hygiene, he showers thoroughly every day. I bought this soap for him thinking that with his age and medications he’s taking, it was the nonenal catching up with him. He couldn’t really smell it himself but it got so bad it almost made me gag. He was reluctant to give up his long time favorite Irish Spring, but once it was all gone and he started using the persimmon soap, there was a significant reduction in odor after the first week. Now after six months of using this soap exclusively, his bathroom smells fresh. And now he prefers this soap, says he feels a lot cleaner after using it, compared to the old soap. My bathroom doesn’t smell like that, apparently the old people smell hasn’t caught up with me, at least yet. But I just put us on a subscription and will start using it myself, just because it smells so nice. We’re very happy with this product!

I don't know how, but it really does make you feel clean and odour-free. Though it costs a lot compared to most soaps, it lasts a very long time. I am on my second purchase of this product.

Excellent product- seems to take away oil as skin feels cleaner. Nice smell, like pears soap. Worth a try but is a bit expensive

My 89 year old dad had started to develop that Nomenal 'old people smell' - he bathes and shaves daily so it isn't hygiene - it's the aging body unable to clear oxidants and combined with repeat medication which also reacts and gives off unpleasant smell. No normal soap, regardless of price, worked - neither did deodorant gel - anything. Read about this, and tried it - lathers beautifully, has a delicate aroma. And it works and works fantastically. After a good bath and scrub with this - within a few hours the smell in his room started dissipating, the next day after bathing - the smell was gone - and with daily or every other day use this eliminates everything. Worth every penny - lasts a long time too. He uses another bar as a face hand and neck soap. Combine this with the same brand and extract serum - apply that on the sweat producing bits of the body after bathing . This soap is much better than the same brand and extract Body wash - the body wash was used for a few days and didn't eliminate the odours - they came back after sole use of the body wash after a few days.
