For me the hand pedal is very comfortable, but the foot pedal is a little awkward ( I have a leg that doesn't cooperate) but I do like that I can change to tension on the pedals, which allows me a better workout.

I don’t have a hospital bed; however, I would guess this exercise equipment would be usable.
