Caulk the screw to extend its life
Just over a year ago, I decided to give the water wiggler a try for my bird bath. A year later, I'm not only still using it, but I've just ordered a second one for my other birdbath. That's a testament to its durability and value in my book. It's also worth mentioning that before I settled on this battery-powered water wiggler, I tried a couple of the solar-powered models. Unfortunately, they just didn't hold a candle to this one. With the solar models, I found they were too inconsistent, often not working when there was even the slightest cloud cover or shade. They also seemed less durable overall, struggling with any kind of fluctuation in weather. In contrast, the battery-powered water wiggler has worked dependably regardless of the weather or season. Even in the heart of winter, it kept the water moving, which was a big hit with the birds. So if you're debating between solar or battery-powered, based on my experience, I'd definitely suggest going with the battery-powered model. Now, I will say that while the device has proven to be surprisingly resilient, it's not without its flaws. The main issue is the water leakage through the top screw. This would make me hesitate to label the wiggler as completely waterproof. However, a bit of DIY ingenuity fixed this issue for me. I applied a small amount of caulk to the screw, and it's been smooth sailing (or should I say wiggling) ever since. I don’t think it’s worth subtracting a whole star for this, given how much better this one is compared to others on the market. But I’d give it a 4.8 if I could. One unexpected advantage I've noticed is the cleanliness of my birdbath water. I was initially interested in the wiggler for the birds' enjoyment, but it turns out this gadget also keeps the water fresher for longer. The constant movement inhibits the growth of mosquitoes and slows the accumulation of other detritus, which is a win in my book.In terms of bird enjoyment, there was a noticeable increase once the local birds got accustomed to the new water dynamics. It's been a pleasure to watch them frolicking and splashing about more energetically. In conclusion, despite a minor waterproofing issue, the water wiggler has proven to be a beneficial addition to my bird baths. I recommend it for anyone who enjoys watching birds and wants to maintain a cleaner birdbath with less effort. Just keep in mind, you may need a little caulk on hand to ensure the longest life for your wiggler.

Great little gadget
I bought one and liked it enough to buy a second (same brand etc.) for a different bird dish. Both units have worked great all summer. They are very easy to assemble. I've had both running non-stop since early spring (my husband wanted to take the batteries out when they weren't sitting in water but I convinced him to stop fussing because there are plenty of things on his do-list already). The batteries have not run out yet and its been at least four months.I dropped one unit on my brick patio and cracked the plastic dome, but it still works fine, so I would say they are quite sturdy. There are no signs of wear and tear from being left in the elements other than a smudge here and there. I don't see any way they could tip over and it doesn't look like corrosion will be an issue at all. The only parts that touch the water are the bottoms of the metal legs and the spinning beads. The plastic housing does not sit on or in the water so there is no issue with clogging the motor, and there's less cross-contamination.I have a solar/battery run fountain as well for another water bowl, and while that works great during the day to keep the water agitated, its nice that the wiggler runs all night and day.Birds can't land on the dome, or at least they don't want to land on the dome, and I wonder if it might be nicer if the top were flat so they could perch. Not sure if that would be a good idea or not. It also might be nice to have them in different colors, but whatever, its also great just the way it is.

Long lasting
My wiggler has been running for three months on one battery. Never stops, my opinion is far better performance and longer lasting than solar.

Prevents mosquitoes well but not as bird-y as solar fountains
I used to keep floating solar fountains in a birdbath, but got tired of how much cleaning they needed and how frequently I had to replace them. So I tried the wiggler. It does a great job of preventing mosquitoes, but unlike the fountains, it doesn't seem to attract birds, IMO. This is probably because it is silent. It doesn't keep all birds away, but I don't notice as many at the bird bath as with the fountains. Also, be aware that the plastic compartment must be above the waterline at all times--even if you have a rain that might overflow the basin. In order to get mine to stay above the waterline, I had to take the L-shaped legs to a vice clamp and bend them straight to get more length. This makes the product a little less stable, by the way, but I didn't want to go to the bother of returning it when I saw that my bird bath was too deep per the instructions that came with the unit. I'll use it until it breaks, but I miss the sound and sparkle of the solar fountains, and I think the birds do, too. If you mostly want it to agitate the water and prevent mosquitoes, however, it seems to work perfectly.

The BEST investment for my backyard!
The media could not be loaded. The Water Wiggler is a must-have for anyone who wants to attract birds to their backyard. This is the second one I've purchased from the company; the first one lasted almost four years until a large critter knocked over the birdbath, causing it to crush the unit. This device is easy to use, smoke to replace the batteries (which last weeks, if not months), attracts the birds, AND keeps mosquitoes from breeding in the water.I cannot speak highly enough about this product. In fact, I wish they made other models for my smaller watering bowls; I would put them in everything!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Every birdbath deserves one
This is a terrific addition to a birdbath. Compact, runs on D batteries, which last a long time. Keeps water in the birdbath moving gently, discouraging mosquitoes. Does not get in the way of birds using the birdbath
