Not the best sniper book
OK. Not the best sniper book, not the worst. Rather clunkily written

Local Chap
To begin with there is little in the way of discussion about rifle or sniper equipment or marksmanship. So shooters need to look elsewhere. He descibes Neston as a village, in fact it is an Historic Market Town in Wirral, Cheshire, with Saxon roots and a pleasant place to live with a mild climate and good connections to cities like historic Chester. It is still the original England one grew up with until global influences took over other areas.Living locally I would agree that there is a lot of local gossip but that's to be expected. Gives it a sense of place.I live nearby and suspect I know some folk descibed in the book.I found the book very ordinary in it's everyday descriptions of people and events.Life is what you make it.The title and cover offer something dramatic, dynamic but the contents are a disappointment compared to many I have read about miltary conflict.Perhaps it is a hint about not trying to escape a humdrum life for one of personal conflict , physical agony and finally facing up to ordinary life that most of us accept.

Don't judge by the description, go by price!
Book described as very good condition, not stained and yellowed but for the price?

I didn't enjoy it.
This book is pretty boring, virtually nothing on sniper craft and I was determined to finish it but it was a slog. One has to have admiration for the guy it is written about but I wish that he had got a much better ghost writer, or get one if he didn't have one, it could have been so much better.Compare this book to 'Sniper on the Eastern Front'by Albrecht Wacker about the German sniper in the WW2 fight with the Russians, and I wizzed through that, it was difficult to put down. A brilliant sniper book which this definitely isn't in my opinion.
