It works and it tastes good!
Accel Gel provides a little protein that is supposed to slow lean-muscle catabolization and a little carbohydrate/sugar that provides immediate energy for workout or competition. I don't know much about the science behind the anti-catabolism claims, but for me it helps delay the onset of debilitating fatigue and I have less muscle less muscle soreness post-event.I use it for long runs (15 marathons last year, 3 ultras this year--50k, 50mi & 77mi) and for training sessions lasting an hour or more. The trick has been to take one Accel Gel every hour or so with some water. For really long events the gel alone isn't enough for me and I usually have a power bar half an hour or so before the event starts. It tastes pretty good too. It's sweet but not too sweet--I don't feel like I need to brush my teeth right after I take it. Some of the other gels are syrupy and require too much water to wash down. Accel Gel Vanilla is just right.

Great taste and energy boost
We've been training for half marathons, and use this on our long runs. It goes down easy because it's thinner than most gels and tastes pretty good compared to the many we've tried. The texture is kind of like chocolate pancake syrup, but not as sweet. I like the fact that it has a bit of protein too. It does give you a definite little kick immediately after swallowing it with a bit of water. I've also tried the Surge version of this gel and I think this tastes better and works just as well. I recommend this for anybody that's doing any kind of longer runs and you want to finish strong.

Combine this with Accelerade and Endurox and you have a winning combo!
This is a must have for anyone doing endurance sports. I use accelerade, accel gel, and endurox R4 and those together equal WIN. Even better is the next day you feel great! I tried accel gel because I found Endurox to be extremely effective. For the record I have been using Endurox since 2005 and 2 other guys in my office use it as well.I havent historically used goo or gel but my distances and training are getting longer so I decided to give it a try. Thus far its working great and keeps me chugging along during 3 hour workouts. I will totally buy it again. Oh - the orange flavor isnt bad at all, I think its better than chocolate (the last thing I want to taste when I'm running or biking and sweating to death is chocolate). I actually sometimes take it and don't even need to wash it down with water.

Excellent nutrition and consistency.
Superior consistency compared to other brands (thinner, easier to swallow). Nice, neutral sweet taste, but not overwhelming. The addition of protein also makes it a superior endurance and recovery product. Just completed my first marathon and I credit these for sustaining me though the race, and also for my rapid recovery afterwards. I felt like I could have run 2-3 days afterwards. Highly recommended, from a 212 lb former strongman (formerly ~260 lbs) turned runner. Yeah, I wish they were cheaper too, but I went through less than a case and a half training for and running the marathon - think how much your running shoes cost.

I liked that they kept me going and I could definitely ...
I used these on an ultra recently, along with a few other well-known names. I liked that they kept me going and I could definitely feel the caffeine kick in. However, the flavor wasn't a favorite. Not bad, but definitely not something I'd pick again. Also, if you are used to the consistency of Gu, these are REALLY liquid. Even on the just-above-freezing morning of the run, these were still very thin. Good if you like it that way, but I really like my gels more... gelled. Still they made a nice change-up, and grabbing one for an extra caffeine boost was nice

Money gel for spartan racers.
Just went through my first box and five spartan races. I use two for sprints, three for supers, and five for beast. I ran a super (pretty out of shape) in 2017 and cramped and struggled thru it. These gels are monsters for me. I feel them energize me and last a good two or three spartan miles. I did notice a difference this last beast as I accidentally only packed four for the race instead of five. I felt 100% for about 10 miles and started cramping around mile 11. Had I had the fifth one I think I would have felt great till the end. The caffeine is great and I feel it. I don’t drink coffee so it affects me. The gel tastes great and isn’t hoppy enough to make my mouth dry even when I use it apart from water stations. That’s a big deal for me. I’ve read a little of the science behind having protein in your gel and these have become my go-tos.

Great tasting Key Lime
I started using Accel gels to replace my standby gel for the last couple years. The 4-to-1 carbohydrate to protein ratio was a big reason for the shift as many of my runs lately have been past an hour and in double digits. It complements the Accel drinks and appear to make a difference on the longer runs. I like to mix the caffeinated chocolate with the double caffeine raspberry cream and uncaffeinated key lime in my runs to keep the caffeine coming when needed. Another plus to these gels is the viscosity. It is thinner than a lot of gels, which makes it easier to consume when it is cold outside.Specific to the Key Lime flavor - it is terrific. I wish it had caffeine in it so I could use it more during my early morning runs!

Excellent
Love the sodium and the protein in these. Perfect for long runs and endurance events. More liquified than other gels, but goes down easy. Would be nice if they had connected tear top option like clif shot gel design.

Great!
My husband was given one of these by a friend on a 60mile cycle ride when he had run out of his usual cereal bars & glucose tablets. He described the difference it made as feeling as though he had someone pushing him from behind, when he had only a big hill and about 10 miles left and was seriously running out of energy! So I've now bought him a supply of his own!I think he felt that the energy bars & glucose tablets have their place, but these gel sachets will definitely be a permanent part of his riding-sustenance arsenal!

Brilliant before, during and after event.
I've been using these for at least three season and have found them to make a significant difference. I coastal row, some of the races can be 50km long, taking one of these an hour makes a big difference, particularly in after event recovery.Unknown if you don't read the instructions they can be taken when you've actually finished and I'd recommend this. They are sickly sweet and the texture isn't great, but it's fuel not a tasty treat.
