nice sound & quality
Beautiful sound, especially considering that it's my 3 and 6 year olds playing! The 6 year old can play the sheet music that slides under the strings. The 3yo mostly just strums, though he did follow along on one of the simpler songs once. It needs a good bit of tuning (several of the strings are never tight enough when we play again a day after tuning), but it's a simple and quick job.

Stressed out our piano and music teachers! Could NOT get it to stay tuned for more than 5 minutes!
Extrememly disappointing :-( I have kids from 4-10 taking music lessons, and especially for my little ones, I was thinking this would be a fun addition to their musical toys and instruments at home. We got this for Christmas, and it sounded awful -- playing the songs included and they were nearly unrecognizable. But we recognized that it just desperately needed a tuning, and since I don't have an ear for it, we asked our piano and music teachers to take a look at it. They both tried tuning it -- could get it perfectly tuned, and within 5-10 minutes it sounded AWFUL again. Our poor piano teacher tried and tried and tried -- one afternoon she tuned it no less than 15 times, and she was shocked how she could tune it, get it sounding great, set it down and come back five minutes later and it was totally out of tune again. She said she'd never seen anything like this. I feel bad both music teachers invested so much of their time into trying to get it to work for my kids, I think they were both just excited about it like we were, and were so disappointed that they couldn't come up with a way for it to even be usable for them. I would've loved to return it, but sadly (and this was our own fault), by the time we realized how hopeless this harp was, we'd already thrown out all the boxes and paperwork with the Christmas boxes. :-( I was just really disappointed, because I thought I was getting something higher quality than this, not just some $10 plaything that I shouldn't expect anything of . . . the kids are disappointed that no matter how hard they try or practice, they can't play a song that sounds good at all.

alright, for a toy
We bought this as a primer for our child who has an interest in playing the harp. We figured this would be a good "intro" to harp. It's alright for a toy, not a true musical instrument. The back veneer has started to peel off and it is very difficult to keep in any reasonable tune. If you're looking for a toy for the kids to play around with, go for it. If you want it for any sort of real music, move on to a different option.

Harp where art thou
I like the construction of the harp, it seem appropriate for a child 5+. The only criticism would be that it was completely out of tune. So the first time a child tries to play it, it sounds awful. What if the parent does not know how to tune it? Maybe a tuning device should be included.

Great tool for teaching note-reading
As a piano teacher, I use these zither-type instruments with their slide-in sheet music to teach the students to read music graphically. It's a fun reward at the end of a lesson, or a great frustration-breaker in the middle. I love it that these have nylon strings instead of metal - so much easier to tune. No case, but we keep using the sturdy box with its handle as a case. Tuning wrench and pick included.
