The original Big Red® is back!
This is the original Big Red® made with real sugar, and it is superb. It is made by Big Red, Inc. and comes in a sealed cardboard box that holds twenty-four 12-ounce glass bottles, which are separated by a thin but sufficient cardboard matrix. The official Big Red cardboard box is put inside an Amazon.com cardboard box along with some paper padding, and it arrived on time in perfect condition, where for reference so far I have ordered and received two cases, since I drank the first case last week and am starting on the second case this week.If you have never had Big Red made with real sugar, then this is a true treat, and it started as a experiment to determine whether there was a market for Big Red made with real sugar, with the initial test marketing area being Austin, Texas, but it is available online now through Amazon.com due to popular demand. It also is called "Retro Big Red", where the "Retro" refers to using real sugar; to being bottled in a 12-ounce glass bottle with classic metal cap but modified so that you can screw it off without needing to use a bottle opener, although you might want to use a glove or towel, since the cap is on tight for a firm seal; and to having the original artwork from the classic days when soda pop actually tasted good since (a) it was made with real sugar and (b) high-fructose corn syrup did not exist anywhere on this planet. One of the more interesting aspects of Big Red made with real sugar is that it tastes clean, light, and smooth straight from the chilled bottle, but it also tastes good on ice, where the secret to keeping the carbonation when serving with ice is first to wet the ice with tap water, followed by draining the water and then pouring the Big Red into the glass held at a 45-degree angle. There is an approximately five second window of opportunity to avoid fizzing the carbonation, so you want to do this in a timely fashion, and as best as I can determine wetting the ice reduces the temperature differential, which in turn preserves the carbonation, and this works all the better when the Big Red in the glass bottle is chilled, since the key to maintaining the carbonation is keeping the temperature the same or similar, and for reference this works on all soda pops. Serving it on ice gives it a bit more bite when you pour it correctly, but it is smoother straight from the bottle, so there are two ways to serve it, with a third way being to add vanilla ice cream for a Big Red float (also a treat).I like a lot of carbonation, and this Big Red has great carbonation, as does Mexican Coca-Cola®. In contrast, Pepsi Throwback® does not have so much carbonation, and if you do not drink a Pepsi Throwback within five minutes, the carbonation pretty much is gone, but not so with Big Red and Mexican Coca-Cola, and silly as it might be, if you like to burp, Big Red and Mexican Coca-Cola are highly recommended for a bit of childish fun, but for optimal burping avoid swishing the Big Red in your mouth, because you will get an explosion of carbonation and a burst of flavor (which actually is nice but is not so conducive to optimal burping). The sodium content of Big Red is low (1 percent or 30mg based on 2,000 calories per day), and the caffeine content is 38mg per 12 ounces. As a comparison, the sodium content of a 12-ounce Mexican Coca-Cola® made with real sugar is 3 percent or 85mg, and Mexican Coca-Cola has a tiny bit more sugar (39 grams vs. 38 grams for Big Red), which is part of the reason that Mexican Coca-Cola made with real sugar is a tiny bit syrupy straight from the chilled bottle, while Big Red is clean, light, and smooth. The classic Big Red "bubble gum" taste is there, which among other things makes Big Red made with real sugar an excellent soda pop to serve with hot and spicy barbecue, and considered in toto as a Gestalt, Big Red made with real sugar is a perfect soda pop. In fact, some aficionados serve it in Waterford® crystal glasses, but be careful with the screw-on top grooves, because they can break the rim of a Waterford crystal glass.Summarizing, this is the good stuff, for sure!

A must-buy for Big Red fans.
I grew up drinking Big Red in Austin, Texas, but I never had the real cane sugar version. Now, living in Massachusetts, there was no way I was going to be able to try this stuff. Then I saw Amazon had started shipping it across the country. So, this wasn't cheap, but you are getting a big case of glass bottles full of the nectar of the gods. It's that same creamy red Big Red taste, just better. The cane sugar really does make a big difference. My friends loved it, makes for great party drinks, just due to the novelty of it, and it mixes well with other beverages.Big Red fans: try it. It's worth it.

This is not anywhere near the original product as advertised.
I grew up in Texas on Big Red and this is garbage.!! They are scamming people into thinking they have the original product. You need to ADD sugar to sweeten it to get any flavor. They bottle their own stuff and stick a label on it and pawn it off as Big Red!! This stuff stinks..$65.00 down the drain. Get it from Texas or not at all!! These folks are 1st class scammers

spectacular soda!
after having big red for the first time during a vacation in san antonio, found that it is a really delightful soda! the taste is a mix between a cream soda and a bubble gum soda. it is sweet and well carbonated.we limit the amount of soda we drink , so having one of these is a great treat!retro big red is also made with the old fashioned ingredients, which makes it something special.received it quickly and well packaged, will be ordering again!

Buyer beware .
The packaging was great . The glass bottles have plastic labels . This is definitely not what I expected . I've been drinking Big Red for 30 years . The stuff in the plastic bottles from Amazon is better and a fraction of the price . This is not real sugar and the ingredients have been changed for the worse . Honestly I will not buy this product again . It's like the original formula watered down and mixed wrong . Low carbonation and fizz . If you want the real Big Red experience shop someplace else . Cheap knock off of the real product . The good reviews must have come from another product because they said real sugar .

Big Red In The Bottle
This is my favorite "soft drink". I was super excited when it arrived. Being from Texas and not having Big Red available in every convenient store, make this order a dream come true. The order arrived really quick. However, one of the recycled bottles was cracked, so I cut my lip while drinking. Also, the bottle were turned upside down by the driver. This caused a little leakage, so the bottle were not complete full. All-in-All, I enjoyed my beverage. I will order cans the next go round.

I love the taste!
Big red is now my favorite. It’s not sold in the area that I live in so I have to order it by the case. My favorite drink I enjoy the taste and I enjoyed big red.

Exactly as remembered!
My husband lived in Texas for some time as a teen and he drank a lot of this, unfortunately, you can't buy it in New England. He was thoroughly surprised to receive it for Christmas - nearly 30 years later, it tasted exactly as he remembered. I would recommend only buying it directly from Big Red through Amazon; initially, I tried to buy it from another seller and it didn't work out as planned.
