Why wasn't this available 30 years back?
For 30 years I've dismantled fork legs to replace the seals if they leak. This thing fixed a leak on my Explorer in fifteen minutes! Obviously it's not going to help if you have pits in your forks - you'd need to change the stanchion. But in my case the leak was caused by dirt under the seal, and the tool cleared it out.To use it, follow the instructions on YouTube. You need to get everything scrupulously clean so that you can tell if there is any new oil leaking. I recommend flushing the area with brake cleaner and using a clean dry cloth on the end of a something like a chopstick to wipe it out. Although the regular users can probably use it without damaging the tool, it's so thin that you should assume you're going to use it one job as it tends to crumple on insertion. I don't care - even with one use, this is half the price of a new seal and doesn't need a bike stand, a couple of hour's work, and new fork oil. Recommended.
