Strong smell, but natural and effective
I HATE mosquitoes. I have super sensitive skin, and every bite turns into a nightmare for me. We're talking dermatologists, doctors... I absolutely abhor mosquito bites... I also dislike strong chemicals so this stuff is great. It does do a good job of keeping off the mosquitoes, even when they're fairly thick. It's not perfect (but I don't think the deet repellents are perfect either). This stuff does a good job. The smell is strong enough to keep away teenagers much of the time as well, which is a not entirely undesirable side-effect. Sometimes my in-laws will avoid me when I rock this scent, so take that for what you will... it may help or hinder you, depending upon your goals... I have not scientifically tested it, but I believe I have to reapply this product more often than I would with a deet-based repellent. I feel comfortable using it on my kids, moreso than the deet stuff, but that's just gut feeling, not sure that this is really all that "healthy," but I'm an eternal skeptic, take that with a grain of salt or three. Update 2 July 2014: Tried some other natural repellents, and I believe this is the most effective non-deet repellent. The plastic spray bottle Coleman uses really IS better than the others I tried - I still have a bottle from last summer that is fully functional after being thrown around in diaper bags and moving boxes. The other brands I tried fell apart before I could get more than a few treatments out of the bottle. I had to pour the competitor's liquid into this bottle to prove that it wasn't quite as good as Coleman...

worked great at Yosemite
i followed the advice given by other reviewers to avoid applying this indoors. it does have a strong fragrance, but smells herbal, like lemon and wild herbs (fresh lavender, mint, sage, eucalyptus, that sort of thing). worked wonderfully at Yosemite national park in California in the month of May. I was hiking on a trail (without having applied any repellent at first). I noticed that I had entered an area where mosquitoes were starting to buzz and land on me. I pulled this out of my backpack and applied it, and after that, not a single mosquito landed on me for 90 minutes (and then my hike came to its end, so I cannot report on longer times). swimming in the Merced river was something we did later that day, and it felt good to know that I wasn't letting the chemical DEET wash off of me into the beautiful river. I was so glad that this stuff works! Knowing that a simple natural formula works, why would i choose anything else? From now on, this is my repellent!

This works
I live in Florida, where we have trillions of mosquitoes. This works.

Strong, effective. Direct skin application is ill-advised
Can create a stain on sensitive fabrics, be wary of application. Made my skin kind of numb/tingly and that feeling intensified in the sun. It's good at its job- but certainly requires some caveats for usage. It makes you feel like a big citronella candle which isn't a bad thing for manual labor outdoors. In a hunting or tactical situation- I'd opt for something less odorous.

Keeps all bugs away from me
This Coleman Insect Repellent Spray – Botanicals Non-DEET Lemon Eucalyptus Insect Repellent really works for me. I have been using it for a few years. No bugs ever land on me. I usually just dab it on my shirt, hat, neck and arms. I spray it on my pants or shorts. You don't have to spray it directly on your skin. It is very fragrant and I advise you apply it outside and out of the direct wind.

Poor spray bottle
I purchased two of these because neighbors highly recommended this for black flies. It does work somewhat as a deterrent for them- but the packaging is poor. The bottle leaks and the spray bottle did not work. I did not have time to return and needed fast relief from the bugs!

works good
went up into Wisconsin .. with the family .. the gnats and Mosquitoes .. where to say the least where horrible .. you could just see the mob of insects go away .. when we sprayed it .. it also had staying power .. after walking in the woods for 3 hours ... i don't know how it would be for hunting .. it has a smell ..{ but i like it } i don't how wild life would be with it yet .. i know one thing .. this is my go to product ..

Best non-toxic bug juice, bar none
I'm outdoors all of the time, and this stuff works! and it does not smell bad either. Won't melt plastic. It works on everything, too. Mosquitoes and ticks are the big two around here and it works on them. I'm not so sure about the chiggers; nothing seems to stop them, not even radioactive waste. I don't have a screen on my tent, so I spray this on the tent flaps when I set the tent up and it keeps the bugs out every time. Even thought it says you need to reapply every few hours, I normally only spray it one in the morning and afternoon and don't have any problems. It's safe for my boxers who tend to be sensitive to chemical sprays. I keep a bottle in my Jeep and in my tackle box just in case. I can't recommend this one enough.
