High quality closer
These closers work very well. The instructions are complex - more than they need to be. I found a couple of videos on line that explain how easy they are to install. The real value of these hinges is the engineering information that the company provides on how to size the hinge closer to the size and weight of the lid. I had to return a hinge from another company that was way too strong for my toybox lid. After doing the calculations I learned that my lid required 1 or 2 hinges. I installed just 1 and it worked perfectly.

Great Product, just make sure to order the correct one.
Had to return the first one I ordered. Easy, Thanks Amazon. I would suggest take the original off and match it to the new ones pictures. Great Product

I left you some tips..Perfect for what I needed...Terrible directions though
Great product. Works as listed. Also as listed... Instructions were limited and not helpful. I have a heavy chest and installed as it appeared in the instructions and used the image as a reference. My lid started to close slowly but then would slam down after half way mark. Now I'll share with you what I discovered. If the lid is heavy you need to move the round reduced speed hinge closer to the back of the chest and move the connecting arm up as high as possible on the lid(when the lid is open. This was the solution for me. In addition, when installed correctly one hinge did the trick. I used both hinges I purchased because the chest is very elegant and I wanted uniforomity. Don't be mislead by the photos. Look at my pics and you can see where I had to re drill and move my hing towards the back of the chest and just below the lid height when closed so I could have maximum reach to us for leverage against the heavy lid.

Kind of a love/hate thing
Building an offroad trailer, I think I spent more time trying to get these spawns-of-satan hinges to install correctly than I did on any other piece of the trailer. My doors are 3' x 2' particle board that's 3/4" thick, and I could not for the life of me get the smooth, slow stop I see everyone else getting in their reviews and videos. The instructions for these things are almost laughably complicated, it's almost as if you have to take an engineering class, then a math class, then an anger management class to understand them.In the end mine did what I wanted them to do, which was stay in the open position and then not slam shut. It does fall quickly however. Perhaps with two hinges on each door it would be slow and smooth, but there's no way I'm paying $60 a door for that.Other than abysmal directions and a very un-intuitive design, they're very well made and other people seem to be able to get them to work just fine.

Horrible instructions
I build things for a living and I had to figure out how to align everything. The instructions were horrible. The brace holds my chest lid up great, but even with two of these, the lid comes down fairly quickly. I did leave my hand on the edge of the chest and let the lid close on it. It did leave a mark, but did smash my hand. Wish they were a stronger, because the look good.

Worked like a charm
Used on a 18x15 trap door in my kids loft and it worked great. Only needed one and it closes nice and slow. My husband installed and said it was pretty simple. A little pricey to me but it did what it was supposed to do so I'd pay the price again to protect my kids from getting their fingers pinched.

Great for little fingers.
I just installed this on my daughters toybox I made for her. Seems very good quality and worked perfectly. It does take some careful measurements and the instructions are a little obtuse but if you follow measurements (the pdf on their website has a better set) then it works like a charm. I wasn't sure if I needed one or two of these. The instructions include a graph of if you need one or two (see attached); would have been nice to see this graph before buying. If your within the shaded area then only one is required. I made it just barely into the shaded area and it works great. I was a little worried that she could pull the toybox open too much and tear this hinge apart so I just attached a chain on the other side to prevent sudden yanking of the toybox.

The product works great. The instructions are poor.
The product works great. The instructions are poor. The reviews regarding the instructions are correct. The instructions were written for an engineer. So, don't expect them to be easy to understand. Take some time to try to figure out what the drawings are trying to convey.Step 1 - Identify the which type of hinge your chest is built with. The instructions don't tell you this, but the point is to determine where the pivot of the hinge is. You'll need to measure from that point to place your new hinge. Step 2 - You need to determine the correct placement of the anchor for the arm. Tip: Attach the anchor to the arm, then put the hinge on the mount. The correct placement with be "Measurement A" from the pivot existing hinge up the door. This should allow for full extension of the arm at a 90 degree angle from your hinge mount. Once you determine where this is and it makes sense. Place your first screw, then remove the arm from the anchor and add the second. Step 3 - Attach the pivot arm back to the anchor and hinge mount and put final screw in place.

Good quality hinge
It took us a while to find the exact hinge as it’s very confusing to try to figure it out from the item description and there is a specific one for every possible configuration. However now that we have it installed (very easy) it works very well

Great product for a reasonable price!
Product performs exactly as I expected. I used this on a toy box with a 4'x2' lid with an overlapping hinge. Had no difficulty handling the leverage from the lid, was considering putting two in at the time but one seems perfect.
