Lightweight, easy transport, and better than other cooling vests
This is a great cooling jacket, lightweight and compact. I suffer with Multiple Sclerosis and my core temperature is always on the high side. This also easy to carry in its little case that fits in my walker. Other cooling vest are so heavy and not easy to transport. I am actually buying a 2nd jacket

Desert field botanist key to staying cool and safe in the summer.
I bought an Ice Vest for field work in the Mojave and Colorado Desert during the peak on summer heat I am a field botanist and my crew and I were working on a project that required us to be in the field, despite us starting earlier in the summer, come around to 10:00 it would be hot. This vest kept me cooler which helped tremendously. Along with salty snacks, electrolytes, and lots of water, with the occasional use of a sunbrella the ice vest was indeed a helpful tool that kept me safe and cool. The gel packs are bulky, maybe i overfilled it with water, the vest when worn with the gel packs is bulky, a bit goofy looking, but then again, I am not trying to impress anything or anyone. I even used it for yard work in the summer.I like the insulated storage tote, I would freeze the gel packs and store the vest in with it. It was like a little suitcase that can fit in the freezer. In the morning I would pull the tote out and leave everything inside the tote until we got to our destination, put it on and stay cool.I even used the vest at home when working on projects that required me to be outdoors.Have to work smart and safe! This helps.

Environmental conditions affect cooling times.
I work on the beach as a wedding photographer. I work primarily on the beaches in Pinellas county (gulf coast Florida, Clearwater/ St. Pete area) we have very high humidity and many times the “feel like” temps are in the triple digits. IMO- it’s brutal. After several “close calls” from the heat I discovered cooling vests. I chose this one because of the reviews and cut of the vest. I am a female and needed something that would sit properly and actually surround my core. The V cut and placement of the ice packs is perfect (ladies I’m sure you understand). The fit: I love being able to adjust the sides and the shoulders. I will mention that the plastic pieces for adjustment seem the be on the inside so it needs to be adjusted before you zip it up. I was able to adjust the Velcro on the shoulders to position the vest so the ice packs are just below the bra line.Cooling time: after about 45-60 minutes the packs become soft with about 1/5 still frozen. I can feel the small frozen bits in the bags. I personally become overheated very quickly and I have to change the ice packs out after and hour. I’m working in direct sunlight however. Variables such as cloud cover and day time seem to extend the ice and cooling a little bit. The shortest cooling times seem to be between 11am-4pm in direct sun.I will note that after the first use, it was 2 pm, 98/99 with feel like temps of 110+, no cloud coverage and high humidity; I felt like it didn’t do anything and was disappointed. I returned to the beach at 4pm with fresh packs and added an additional pack under my shirt over the left side of my chest. That made a huge different for me. Also want to mention the temps/conditions hadn’t really changed.Since then on “normal” days (with out heat advisories) this vest has been a life saver. I do also wear a large sun hat and put an ice pack in the hat to keep my head cool. I wear a very thin tank top under the vest with my regular shirt over the vest. It is a bit bulky and certainly doesn’t give a slimming appearance but it’s not heavy or uncomfortable. For me comfort out weights fashion.Overall I’m very pleased with the function and cooling of this vest and would recommend. I would definitely suggest getting extra ice packs to switch out as needed. The ice packs I received do not “recharge” when I put them in my cooler.Cons: The only negatives I can think of right now are the adjustable straps on the sides seem to be on the wrong side. You can not adjust them once it’s zipped upThe Velcro straps on the shoulder rub and/or dig in my shoulder especially when my camera strap rests on them. Both is these are minor in the big scheme of things.

Old verses New Improvement
I had purchased the older version of this cooling vest a few years ago which seemed to work, however, the chest vest had some stitching issues that was not very good, and it was way too late to return it for an exchange or refund. So years later I saw that this same company had improved the design of their cooling vest with a different chest vest material instead of the mesh material used in their earlier version. I could see the areas of other improvements with different cooling paks. So I purchased their redesigned cooling vest. This summer I had a chance to tried the redesigned cooling vest. The first time I used the vest it was a bit annoying trying to get the redesigned ice paks in the vest interior pockets, especially if you fill them with too much water during the freezing phase. I wore the vest over a cooling type T-shirt while during yard work. During my yard work I noticed that I could barely feel the coolness from the ice paks. So, the second time I had to do mowing in the heat I wore the cooling vest in direct contact with my body with a cooling type T-shirt over it. Once again I could barely feel the coldness of the ice paks through the vest pockets that hold them. So I gave this vest a third and fourth try, but I never really felt the coldness of the ice paks when I wore the cooling vest against my skin with a T-shirt over the vest. I would not recommend this product because I never felt the coldness of the ice paks through the pocket material of the cooling vest. The vests are priced rather high.
