Works with HF jack hammer
This will fit in a HF Chicago electric jack hammer (the big one). You will need to sand down the gray coating on the makita bit to shiny metal (about an 1/8 inch), but then it fits nicely. Just grease it up good. It’s well made, durable, and digs fast.

Very Happy
A definite back saver. I have hard clay soil and if I want to dig anywhere on my property it requires a pick axes. This thing works great and breaks up my soil fast. I used it in a 60lbs Hercules jack hammer I bought from Harbor Freight and it fit well.

Doesn't fit!
I've purchased this spade several times and it works fantastic for digging in rocky soil, however my most recent purchase does not fit into the jackhammer. I have the same Bauer jackhammer and purchased the same spade I had before, I'm not sure what happened but I am now forced to buy another brand of spade. Come on Makita.

Fits my Baur
Tappy tap taped it in to the end of this Baur. Time will tell if it breaks. Also i think the dewalt may be identical but, $25ish cheaper. Other reviews said they took a grinder to the edges of the hex to make it fit but, the makita spade i got was already rounded so it tappy tap taped right in.

Makita Is the best! And AMAZON is better!
Id like to send my old spade that I bought (the wrong one) back to place of purchase. How do I do it? I used the spade to dig A trench through hard soil. It works just fine. Thanks. Seasons greetings!

Fits the Harbor Freight Bauer 1633E-B 70lb Pro Breaker Hammer perfectly
This fits perfectly in the Bauer from China via HF and accepts the same 1 1/8" hex bits. I have not actually put it to the test yet. I'm looking to use it for transplanting trees and digging in decomposed granite soil. I'm a bit concerned (no pun intended) about the problems described in other reviews about the quality of the metallurgy. It looks like a genuine Makita product to me based on the labeling on the shaft. If it isn't that would be misrepresentation and I don't think Amazon would do that. I will update this with further comment after doing some digging.

Necessary and ideal for landscaping and planting in hard earth
This clay spade is designed for use with Makita demolition hammers (or breakers). It is a necessary tool if you are creating a landscape in hard bedded clays or sandstones. If you are putting one-gallon or larger plants in hard ground, it is an amazing time saver. This particular attachment is obviously also the tool to use if you have to shape footing trenches for retaining wall foundations in hard-earth situations. Any old point will break up hard stuff, but a spade tool helps you keep your footings properly dimensioned and with straight edges.
