Summerdown Mint Thins 150 g (Pack of 2)

I was bought a box of these chocolate mints as an Easter gift and enjoyed them so much I felt compelled to order more. Summerdown is a company based in Hampshire which specialises in mint related products.The philosophy of Summerdown has been to rekindle the production of English Mint - traditional Black Mitchum Peppermint. The "single-estate peppermint oil" is grown, harvested and distilled on the edge of the Hampshire Downs and its freshness is really noticeable - in fact, you can smell the mint even with the box of chocolates sealed in cellophane.These are not peppermint creams (although Summerdown make those too), they are simply elegant thin discs of delicious, smooth, plain chocolate infused with peppermint oil. They are dangerously addictive and so smooth - they won a "Great Taste Gold Award" in 2010. One piece of feedback though for Summerdown is that although much is said about the peppermint oil used in these chocolates, nothing is said about the excellent quality and pedigree of the chocolate used. I think more detail about the chocolate would help increase understanding of the overall product quality - although I appreciate you can't grow cocoa in Hampshire!The chocolates are elegantly presented in subtle packaging and make an ideal gift for hosts at dinner parties etc. and, so far, they've had as much positive impact on recipients as they had on me.I won't use any more superlatives to describe these chocolates but if you like mint you'll really enjoy them and probably become an addict. Recommended.

Really nice balance between the warm chocolate and the fresh lively filling. I’d buy these again.

What an incredibly easy way to get hold of our favourite mints!

Delicious for peppermint lovers.

We received these as a gift and simply assumed they would contain dairy, but the ingredients are: Sugar, cocoa mass, cocoa butter, emulsifier, soya lecithin and Summerdown peppermint oil.(Note. Cocoa butter is the fat portion of the cocoa bean, and is completely vegetarian and dairy free fat source and is directly responsible for the melt-in-your-mouth quality of chocolate).It does say further down that it may contain traces of nuts and milk, but assume that is because it is made in the same factory as products that do contain milk/nuts. I now need to see what the ingredient are for their other products - could be very handy if they are dairy free too.Anyway, really smooth, and tasty and would definitely recommend them - they also appear to be locally made in Hampshire.Definitely worth a try, with attractive packaging (purchased from a National Trust property) - good for a gift.
