Works really well, but this one has the velcro!!
I spent awhile hunting around on Amazon for a houdini woombie. Several reviews on other colors/sizes mentioned the velcro closure at the top scratching the baby and drawing blood. A few people mentioned that the newer ones now have a snap closure. I assumed by ordering a new one on Amazon that I would be getting the newer style but the pink lemonade color I ordered here has the velcro closure. So far it has not caused us a problem but I do want to warn people that might purchase it.As far as the actual woombie I like it quite a bit. I have been a faithful Miracle Blanket user for years and our current baby really loves the Miracle Blanket. However, they are a bit more intensive to use (though not hard) and they hold the baby's hands down at the sides. Most newborns, including ours, tend to like their hands scrunched up over their chest mimicking their positioning in the womb. I always felt bad strapping our babies' arms down at their sides even though they did really like being swaddled in the Miracle Blanket. Once I saw the woombie I wanted to try it since it would allow their hands to be swaddled more naturally plus it is easier to put on. So far so good. There is definitely more stretch than with the Miracle Blanket but so far our baby seems to sleep just as well with the Woombie as with the Miracle blanket. If she has gotten really worked up then it does not seem to settle her as well as the MB but I think that might be more conditioning related since she's used a MB for the last six weeks. I think if she'd used a Woombie since birth it would settle her just as well. I imagine if we have another baby I will be trying the Woombie blanket first. On a side note, I do wonder how snugly this really would swaddle a small, newborn baby. Our baby was 9#8oz at birth and we began using the Woombie at 8 weeks so she is significantly larger now. The material might be snug enough that it wouldn't be an issue but it is something to consider if you have a very small baby. This review is for the houdini woombie. It fits just like I imagined and I don't think I would try a regular woombie, I'm afraid it wouldn't be snug enough as I think even the houdini could stand to be a tad tighter.

THE BEST SWADDLE EVER - AND WE HAVE TRIED SIX OTHERS
New mom here. We got home from hospital and were ready to swaddle. We knew the importance and got right on it. First swaddled with carter's blankets. This worked until she got a little stronger and more awake. Then tried swaddle designs and little giraffe blankets (bigger - muslin type material), this was awful and did not work at all. Too hard to get it tight enough and with her wiggling she could break out. Then went to HALO swaddle. OK, HALO swaddles are the bomb, but they get stretched out quickly and then... not the bomb. Lil girl breaking the swaddle and waking up swatting the paci out of her mouth. MIRACLE blanket, now this blanket really is a miracle. Amazing. But quite involved in the actual putting it on - and my husband was concerned it would hurt her shoulders. Then I tried the Summer baby SwaddleMe, also very easy, and hold nicely, but she could sneak her little paws out the bottom of the wings, and it was not super easy to put on. Then I saw this online... ordered it. I had read about the SMALL NECK OPENING. AND YES, IT IS SMALL. When I took this out of the package I thought there is no way I am getting this on my TRIPLE CHIN baby. But it is VERY STRETCHY. AND SOOOOOOO EASY TO PUT ON. It was amazing. No way to get out of it. This is THE BEST SWADDLE WE HAVE PURCHASED. I am ordering another one now....

Good in theory, but neckline a choking hazard
I took one look at this item and promptly put it back in the box for Amazon returns. The neckline, without even needing to put it on my baby, was obviously way too tight. My daughter is 7 lbs. and 3 weeks old - definitely not a large infant - and right away I could tell there was no way it was going to fit around her neck without serious discomfort. The material seemed lovely and plenty stretchy throughout the body without being too easy and loose, but the neckline scared me too much to even try it on. I think that I will try the Woombie in the future, but definitely not the "Houdini" version, as it appears that only this version has the ultra-tight neckline to prevent little hands from sneaking out.My first baby loved the Miracle Blanket, which kept his arms pinned at his side and was very tight and secure. Naturally, I tried the Miracle Blanket with my daughter as well, obviously to suppress her startle reflex that would subsequently wake her up. She hated it! In fact, she would wake herself up out of sleep trying to get out of the Miracle Blanket, grunting and groaning at being so confined. Someone suggested the Woombie as a way to suppress her startle reflex without simultaneously confining her so harshly. When the Woombie Houdini arrived with the neckline described above, I decided to try Summer Infant's Swaddlepod, which works just like the Woombie, and they worked out wonderfully for me at about half the price. The availability of being able to find them at Babies R' Us was immensely helpful as well, as Woombie doesn't appear to be sold in stores and when you're sleep deprived, a few days waiting on shipping can feel like a few months.Because Summer's Swaddlepod only reaches 14 lbs., I will probably switch to the Large Woombie as they make them in larger sizes than are available in Summer's Swaddlepod.

Has helped so much
My 7 week old was having a hard time transitioning from the bassinet to crib so I bought the woombie thinking she didn't like the space. The first night she fought it and cried for at least 20 minutes. Once she calmed down and slept, she slept for 4 hours. I have had her wear it every nap and at night and now she seems to look forward to it. We have been sleeping 4 hours at a time, hopefully this only grows! At first it seemed too tight but it does stretch to fit them like yoga pants. Only gave it 4 stars because it does tend to ride up at the shoulders but this is minor.

Good Product but not for us.
It turns out my daughter hates to be swaddled so we put her in it once and never again BUT, if your baby loves being swaddled this would be a great product. I wouldn't buy this size for a baby over 9 lbs though. My daughter was 10lbs and it was majorly tight. I know it's suppose to be tight but it was a bit too much.
