Harvest Moon: Save the Homeland

I was looking for a quest game to play on Playstation 2 during the winter months. I can't take the stress of having to kill enemies or battle bosses, so I wanted something simple, fun and interesting. I used to love "Myst" for PC, so I was looking for something along those lines if not simpler. I have never played any of the other Harvest Moon games, so my opinion is based solely on Save the Homeland for PS2. I absolutely love this game!! I can't stop playing it. If you are older like me and are just looking for something entertaining to get your mind off of everyday life, then you will enjoy this game. The graphics are very simple but the storyline is fun and interesting. It is not too easy and not too hard, and nothing has stressed me out as of yet. I love running my own little imaginary farm and tending to my crops and animals. It really is fun and relaxing. I can't wait to try the original Harvest Moon for PS1.

Ah, Harvest Moon. Takes me back. I'm glad I found this gem. It was a favorite of mine when I was younger. Yes, it is an older game around early 2000's when it came out for PS2. You will need a memory card to store data using a PS2. But they are easy to find online. This game is a simple farming game for those wishing to unwind after a long day. It's great!

Harvest Moon: Save the Homeland essentially acts as the bridge between the classic and modern Harvest Moon games.It has a more focused plot and goal than Back to Nature and HM64. Similar to these games, you inherit your grandpa's farm and you are expected to raise animals and vegetables. But here is the catch, the farm and the little town it is apart of will be destroyed in one year if you do not put a stop to it. You must befriend the villagers and help come up with a plan to save the town. Save the Homeland is also significantly shorter than previous Harvest Moon games. I completed it in late in-game Fall season. I never even made it to the winter season. Your game is restarted once you save the town.Positives: A lot of in-depth and charming game characters and in my opinion, the last classic Harvest Moon cast of people. I love the the graphics and character designs. You are not simply given a dog and horse, you must accomplish tasks to own them. I like cooking in the kitchen and I think it is just simple enough. Days go by quickly so you must learn to manage your time well, which is fun to accomplish.Negatives: The 360 camera is just awful. You always get stuck when attempting to move the screen around to see the world around you. It is also impossible to see where your character is walking when it is dark at night. I got lost several times. Additionally, despite there being a lot of fun and unique new features, this game feels incomplete. It is too easy to get all of the house expansions. I like the cast of characters but I would appreciate there being more opportunities to form relationships with them outside your attempts to save the town together. You have a limited amount of crops to choose from. Unfortunately, there is also only one tool expansion to purchase and you cannot raise sheep.Overall, if you like Harvest Moon, I think you should get this game. I would not recommend it to people who are not already fans of the series though. There is a lot of fun to this game but it is definitely full of missed potential and unfortunately, feels incomplete.~~3.5 out of 5 stars~~

well, I had this one years ago, then my ps2 broke, so i decided to get another ps 2 recently and this was the 2nd game i got. I like it just fine, but now I remember some of the things about it that werent so hot. It feels as if the days go by too fast, i dont get the time to fish, so i just dont, and he's slow, it drives me nuts!. I was so wishing for better, but if you're a huge harvest moon fan, this is yet another installment to add to your collection. I have many gamecube versions and Wii versions of course so dont let this one bring ya down. :) gamecube ones are great, and Harvest moon 64 was superb! But to even get it at a used store it was gonna cost me 44$ YIKES! This one was like 9$. :) I opted to go this way first :)

Great game I have lost a long time ago was very happy that I found it on Amazon came on time no scratches no marks looks brand new works great had no problem with it coming on and playing for a long time very pleased with this product

Its alot of fun when you can find a copy that works. Ive had two and they both are damaged. The one I ordered from her didnt play as soon as i put it in my system. I bought this one to replace the one that was broken in the begin and I replaced that one too. So I guess you could say i have had THREE copys of this. No matter how careful I am with it, It still will get scratched or something and one scratch ruins it forever. Worst disk I have ever had to deal with.

The game runs clunky and I swear it runs at only 40 frames a second. Last time I played a game that gave me a headache and caused nausea after 2 or 3 hrs. I discovered it was runnnig at 40 fps. I even timed the in-game day clock and it runs twice as fast as two psp harvest moons I am currently playing (harvest moon boy and girl and harvest moon hero of leaf valley, now those I recommmed whole heartedly - awesome:)). I recommed that whatever you do, do not waste your money on this title. It would be a serous purchase mistake. Thank you and good gaming:)
