Great product
Works great, dries relatively quickly, glossy and beautiful. I used it on top of oil paint and it worked fine.

It smears the paint
It all but guarantees not to smear or smudge your watercolor paint, but it does just that. I used it exactly how it said, so that I could preserve a painting I did for my daughter's birthday. It ruined it! If I could give 0 stars, I would.

Watercolor varnish
I used it to protect and brighten colors on an image transfer. I have also protected my original watercolors. It's a fantastic product. Good value, generous volume, dries quickly, no smell. So many uses.

Smears
I got this to protect my watercolor paintings, well, it does do that, but after it destroys your art because it is supposed to be for watercolor paintings but when you brush it on, it smears your art. I excepted this fact for the paints it destroyed (nothing I can do about it anyway), but I had to get a fixative spray to apply to my art before applying this product. After that, the product worked great, it puts a thick glossy surface on your art which brings out the colors beautifully and prevents discoloration. If you use watercolor paper, after you apply the product and after it dries, your art may have a curl to it, all you have to do is to spay the back of your art with a fine mist of water and put it under some heavy books (artwork face down) until the water dries.

Seal that painting
Watercolorists - believe it or not, this stuff works. It will slightly rumple the paper, so best to use it on rigid watercolor surfaces. It leaves a glossy finish which some may or may not like. I lay the paint on really thick and this product never smeared the paint. I've tried other "watercolor varnish". Some smell awful, and all of the others I've tried smear the paint unless you use very tiny brushes, very carefully, using thin layers of the varnish. They were time consuming and difficult to use. Sax True Flow doesn't have a bad odor and works as stated. This product is worth buying and trying - unlike so many other art supplies you may have purchased!

DO NOT use this varnish for watercolor/goache art done ON CANVAS!!
I bought this after looking up the best watercolor varnish that was glossy for canvas paintings.I won't give it a 1 star because it may work much better on water color paper where the paint was easily absorbed. I had a bad feeling this would happen, but tried it anyway since I wasn't 100% invested in this painting since I was a little displeased with my lineart using paint. Also, since this wasn't a high quality canvas, I also had my doubts. I did the painting on a circular canvas, and the watercolor/goache paint didn't sink into the canvas material but sat on top of it [red flag #1 that it will smear with the varnish). So, when I put this onto it to seal it in an make it glossy, it picked up all the black lineart that was the top layer and smeared and feathered it around.I tried to do a little clean up but it still looked too bad to gift to the recipients. If I try it on normal water color paper I will come back and update/adjust my rating. However, for now, this did NOT work for watercolor/goache on canvas.(Images included are some of the ruined painting)

Good price
Bottle is much larger than I expected which is great. Will let you know how it performs when I use it. I do know your painting has to be totally dry before applying this on your watercolor painting. Otherwise, you will ruin your painting if it’s not dry completely. Great price and value for the money.

DO NOT BUY
This stuff smears and also washes out colors. It destroyed a painting I’d put over 30 hours into. It did work for a test run (1”x1”) but totally failed at large.I do not recommend it for anyone, I would have given zero stars if possible.
