Embarrassing not good enough for the price
It should be metal, the whole product. But it's not, maybe only 10%. Just plastic.Connections points train rail and the charging, absolutely rubbish.Would not cost more than Β£30. Sorry, too bad.

Electric Train Set
I ordered this electric train set to replace our old one, which we use around the Christmas tree. This new set is significantly more luxurious and of exceptional quality. Iβve already unpacked and tested everything, and it all works perfectly. The headlights, steam, and sound effects are delightful, and the train runs smoothly and stays on the tracks effortlessly. I also appreciate the additional extras, including four puzzles featuring various random landmarks to display around the track. The design and detail are outstanding. This set has exceeded my expectations, and I highly recommend it and can't wait to get it back out at Christmas Time.

Recommended particularly for younger children if the point derailment can be resolved.
This is a very nice train set for younger children. It is available with red or green passenger carriages that can be illuminated inside or in black or silver with freight carriages for Β£10 less. The engine casing is made of die-cast metal but the tender and carriages are plastic. There is quite a bit of detail and the carriages have logo decals. The cowcatcher on the front of the engine appears to indicate that the set was designed more for the American market but this doesn't detract from the set.I think, with some exceptions, it is very well designed and thought out.The top of the engine has a removal plug to put water in a tank, this produces steam from the engines funnel. There is also a small red light on the front of the engine and it makes engine and hoot-hoot sounds. There is a small switch on top of the engine to stop and start it. The power comes from a single rechargeable battery in the tender which has to be connected to the engine via a small connector. There is a USB lead included to charge the battery. Also included are four cardboard 'buildings', Big Ben, The Eiffel Tower, The Sidney Opera House and the Taj Mahal. All the parts were included and it is easy to put together. The small parts that lock the track sections are a little bit fiddly and could easily be lost but there were plenty of spares. The track includes straight, curved, points and a crossover section. A number of different layouts can be made from these. The example on the box uses all the track sections and is 180cm x 78cm in overall size. In addition, there is a straight part to assist in aligning the engine and carriages onto the track.I'm sure most children will be delighted with the train set and I would be happy to recommend it but there are some negatives that I should mention.Firstly and most importantly when constructing the example layout shown on the box, with points and a crossover, the train invariably derails at the points. If the points are set in the wrong direction it always derails but even if they're set correctly the train can do a couple of laps and then derail. When I altered the track to form a simple oval shape the train was fine. I did get it to run for several minutes on the box example track but as soon as I switched one of the points it derailed again. There are some minor points too. The carriages can be illuminated but to turn the lights on the switch is underneath. Also the power for the carriage lights uses 3 1.5 volt AG13/LR44 button cells. These can be replaced when necessary but it requires the removal of a small screw (not captive) to remove the cover. The use of AA batteries, possibly rechargeable, with a clip-on cover would have been better. The instructions indicate that the batteries in the tender are 4 x 1.5 volt AA batteries which are not included but actually, it is a single 3.7 volt 900mah rechargeable battery. Also, it shows the lead from the tender being plugged into a socket on the engine whereas it actually uses a connector between them which is a bit more fiddly, especially for younger children.I think it is a good set for younger children if problems with derailment at the points can be resolved but for older children a more traditional 00 gauge set which can be added to would be recommended albeit they are more expensive.Update: After trying again I managed to get the train to run without derailing. The way I did it was to ensure that all the levers for the four points are in the same position, place the tender on the track and move it by hand to do a complete circuit ensuring that it stays on the track. Once it does then connect the engine and carriages and test that it runs under its own power. If you alter one of the points then be sure to alter the remaining three in the same position before the train has run over them. It's quite impressive once it's running correctly and recommended.
