This enclosure works okay. The only thing I would say is, that if you use it for a SSD drive, then the speeds I got are around 200mb/s read/write, whereas my Sabrent & Kimax enclosures give around 400mb/s read/write for the same SSD drive. Then again, the Sabrent & Kimax have UASP, which this enclosure does not claim to have. When I tried it with a "spinner' type drive, then the speeds were the same for all enclosures, around 80mb/s in my case. I still copied almost 12GB of mixed files to the spinner drive in 5 minutes using it, so it's still a very good value enclosure IMHO. I would buy another without hesitation. So it's hard plastic, but it's perfectly fit for purpose, and changing drives really doesn't get any easier than this. Delivery was also very quick too.

Perfectly easy to utilise this enclosure -even for a dope like me.The end simply flips open, you slide your 2.5" drive in, shut the end and it's ready to use as an external drive.There's a wee blue activity lamp on the enclosure should you need assurance when it's at work.They even included a decent USB lead with it, so I could plug it straight into my telly, no messin'.My TV is LG and was very fussy with drives to record onto, but it works flawlessly with this setup.

You really get what you pay for with these kinds of products, This is one of the cheapest available on amazon, and you can tell.I have no issue with it's functionality, but it does feel flimsy and cheap all round. I'll keep it for accessing hard drives when I need to, but I won't be using this to house a hard drive and use it day to day.If you're looking for a cheap way to access your 2.5" laptop hard drive, then buy this. If you're looking for something rugged, or for daily use, it's probably worth spending a few more pennies to get a quality product that will last.

No bullshit here, you're getting what you pay for.Device works as intended and is actually really handy if you have a collection of laptop disks you want to swap between if you keep them and archive on them like I do.Door seems sturdy enough where small mishaps aren't going to break it.Case feels the price point, isn't a properly shaped mold but isn't a cheap and nasty thin plastic neither, which is all I needed and cared about.

Lets be straight here this item was 1£ and considering its roughly the same price as a kinder egg but with a gift thats far better than the miss shaped crap you get normally. I'm amazed this usb 3.0 hard drive enclosure fully works and you get a decent 3.0 cable thats worth 1£ on its own. Tested this against a 3.0 seagate external hard drive and the data speeds were the same. Enough said just a great buy. 👍

Cheap but does the job. I would recommend spending a little more and get a quality metal enclosure if for an everyday external HDD.

After arriving in a package that looked like it had previously had a hard life as a football in a Rio de Janeiro shanty town, I was thrilled to discover how easy it was to insert a HDD into this. I was even more thrilled to discover that it can just as easily be removed again.So far, so good.Unfortunately, none of the cables actually worked, even when swapped over to other external caddies. Luckily I had a few cables that did actually work. Speeds weren't that impressive through USB3, either, struggling to get to 50mbps, about a 1/3 of what other caddies will do.As I ordered two in two separate transactions and was charged twice for postage I would have expected two separate packages to arrive but they came in one package, done badly. The seller can now expect two lots of negative reviews.Overall, my expectations weren't stratospherically high at this price point, but I suppose I should be mildly impressed that they were somehow still not met.
