Those with excellent vision might enjoy. Myself not so much.
The writing is so small it's annoying. I only wear glasses occasionally but for this book I need them all the way through which means I can't just pick it up for a quick glance or take it out with me without finding my glasses or taking them with me. I don't know how the printers could justify making the writing so small. Was it a cost thing? Cramming more into a smaller book. Well it kind of backfires because I won't be buying any more books from this company for fear of same issue. One of problems of buying online. Had I seen before purchase I wouldn't have purchased.

Great book for beginners and improvers
I was absolutely delighted when I was told I would be given a copy of Watercolour Landscapes by Artist Grahame Booth - in return, Search Press have asked for an honest review on Amazon. First of all I am a great fan of Grahame’s work. When I received the book I was impressed by the fact that it is hardbacked and spiral bound which makes it easy to open and keep flat while using and also that the book is so well laid out and very informative. Grahame explains the principles of watercolour painting, the brushes he uses, colour of paints used and also the artists’ watercolour paper used. He also covers general techniques - preparation, how to hold your brush, adding water, creating a smooth wet wash and a graduated wash, mixing colour and colour biases and then finally framing and sharing your work Each step by step illustration in the book shows how to progress through the 6 painting projects. At the end of the book there are outlines drawn on watercolour paper for you to paint. You can also trace the drawings onto your own paper so that you can practice before using the ones in the book. I love the loose style of Grahame’s paintings and always feel inspired when I see his work. I now can’t wait to have a go at the projects in the book. I definitely recommend this book - it is ideal for beginners and also for artists who would like to improve their watercolours in a loose style.

Very Useful Book
For me as an amateur artist with limited drawing abilities, I find that this book gives me the confidence to attempt more watercolour projects. Also the additional pages that are already drawn, are extremely helpful and will improve my perception in drawing future projects.Grahame gives excellent tips and advice and gives step by step instructions in painting all the projects in the book.Looking forward to starting the pictures and no doubt working through the book, I will certainly improve my watercolour skills.

Great instructor, terrible paper!
I love the watercolour images and the tutorials are easy to follow. Thank you Graham! I really like Graham's approach and the colours he chooses. However, the watercolour paper included in the book is the worst I have ever used..I feel you don't really stand a chance of doing the work justice. I would advise tracing the images onto better watercolour paper. Graham actually has instructions in the book on how to do this. I did this for the first one , then repeated it on the paper in the book which gave a very disappointing result after all the effort of carefully following the tutorial. This is why I gave the book 3 stars, otherwise it would have been 5.

Terrible watercolour paper included in book
Terrible quality paper for the painting included. Given the book is trying to encourage beginners, the least the publisher could do is include decent water colour paper. Horrendous - you apply the basic first wash and hundreds of dots appear. Looks like the paper had had an attack of the measles. Not good enough. Shame on you Search Press. It’s the same with the Flowers edition too.
