“Old Man Logan – Scarlet Samurai” collects issues #31-35 of Old Man Logan (no legacy numbering here then…).For some reason, either Old Man Logan usually gets the pick of the artists at Marvel, or he brings out the best in them, as on the whole, his books have been superbly illustrated. This one is no exception, as Mike Deodato Jr. continues his exceptional work on the first three issues; though the chap on the last two has a noticeably different style, though he does well; but taking over part-way through a story is never easy.Anyway, like so many Wolverine stories, Old, Young or Regular, there’s this Canadian who walks into a bar looking for a drink, and suddenly finds himself in the middle of a gang-war between The Hand and The Silver Samurai/Clan Yakuza (or whatever they’re called).The usual stuff happens.Then the unusual stuff happens. I’m old enough to remember the wedding, and nobody has pulled this trick in the thirty or forty years since? Really? I know I took the 90s off from comics, but still; nobody?Anyway, this is a stunningly good read, even with the change of artist in the middle.
