The two main factors that make this the best flame bulb we tried are: the dark base as it doesn't show in the fixture in the daytime hours and the real flame pattern - very random so it appears like a flame not just a flickering light. The color is the only minor drawback. As we wanted the bulb to simulate a gas flame, we would have preferred a more white colored light - these are fairly orange in color. Great bulb for the money and expectation.

The best LED flame bulb I've seen so far
I'm not going to say they're not pricey -- but all good LED technology seems to be, for the time being at least. In my opinion you get what you pay for with these. They're the most realistic of all the LED flame simulation bulbs I've seen and I've researched a lot of them (and bought a couple of disappointing ones in the process). If you put this behind frosted glass to diffuse it a bit, or simply have it far enough away from the naked eye, people will seriously think it's a real gas flame that's exposed to a gentle breeze. They're pretty fun to watch. It's not bright, but neither is a single real gas flame - use it for effect, not for providing light to a space.

Worth the price!
We changed out the bright white bulbs in our outdoor light and these beauties look like a flickering gas flame. Not very bright but bright enough. We paired them with some Edison bulbs in the sconces on either side of the front door. Make sure you purchase the same color and they will match very well. They cast a warm glow...you can still see who is at the front door. I think the look is subtle and soft.

Realistic
Unlike some other reviews, I thought the color was very "candle like" and the flickering very realistic. Only negative is the size. It is fatter and taller that a regular candelabra bulb so check the measurements before ordering.

The most realistic flicker bulb out there!
This is hands down the most realistic looking candelabra-base "flicker" bulb on the market, they look just like real gas flames in my seeded glass porch lights!

Not orange
They are a little big and aren’t pretty. But the flame isn’t orange. It is a nice soft candle glow. It flickers nice.
