Product Description SPS ONEThe 'best value' option for home and professional computing environments Salicru’s SPS ONE series is an Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) system featuring Line-interactive technology, which provides the best protection solution for equipment and information within home and professional (small businesses, offices, shops, etc.) computing environments. Its use of AVR Boost & Buck technology, which enables permanent stabilisation of power supply voltage, provides the dual benefit of ensuring better care of connected loads and reducing use of the UPS’s batteries. And, in the event of an input power outage, it provides battery power to keep the equipment operating. To complete the security offered, it also features protection against the possibility of over voltages occurring in the data line. Also notable is the built-in communication functionality between the UPS and the computer system via the USB port (communication cable included) and the downloadable monitoring software, which is compatible with Windows, Linux, Unix and Mac. The SPS ONE series is available in 500, 700, 900, 1100, 1500 and 2000 VA power ratings. Features Line-interactive technology. Microprocessor control guaranteeing high reliability. sAVR Boost&Buck permanent stabilisation. USB interface for all models as standard. Downloadable monitoring software for Windows, Linux, Unix and Mac. Protection for data line / telephone / Internet. A single on/off switch for easier and more convenient use. Protection against overloads, short circuits and transients. Smart battery charger to shorten average recharging times. Battery recharging with equipment turned off. Definitely NOT 2000VA
This is named and specified as a 2000VA PSU. I bought two of these to replace an APC 2200 and an APC 1500 UPS for my home office. I didn't get around to replacing these units until January, having bought them last August but hey. Recently we had a powercut and these things were out of juice within 7 minutes! One was powering three desktop computers but the second was only powering our internet modem and two routers! It should have run for hours. When the power came back on I let the two units charge and then tested by pulling the power and this time they both lasted nearly 10 minutes. I contacted Salicru support. I expressed my concern that these units appeared not to have enough batteries in them and asked how I could check. They gave me some test software to run. I ran it on the UPS with 3 computers attached to it. The power was running out extremely fast and again it only managed about 10 minutes. I sent the report back to Salicru support who told me that this was normal! I explained that the APC 2200 unit could run for almost an hour and in fact I still have one powering 5 or 6 servers and during the 10 minutes it took to exhaust the Salicru unit only one of the level lights had gone out on the APC despite the load on it. I told him that these cannot be 2000VA units and were more like 500VA. He showed me some calculations which did indeed show that this performs like a 500VA (ish) PSU. If it were 2000 I shouild have been getting 4 times as long - about 40 minutes, which is what I was expecting. See screenshot attached. The alarm went off after 8 minutes at 25% battery remaining. Two minutes after that it was at 5% and I reconnected the power as shown in the chart. When I unpacked the units I thought that they felt very light. A 2200VA APC PSU is very heavy indeed and really needs two people to carry it if you don't want to put your back out. These Salicru units are very light but I just assumed they had Li-Ion batteries instead of the old fashioned lead acid ones. I was wrong! The real shocker, though, was Salicru's reply to this which was that they had not said it was a 2000VA unit; *I* had!!! He also said that this was a domestic unit implying that it should not be used in an office. I pointed out that SOHO means "small office home office" and that 2000VA is 2000VA whether you use it in a bedroom or on the ISS! Also their marketing, website and spec sheets all state this is a 2000VA unit when in fact it is not. I never had a reply to that. This is false advertising and in my opinion nothing short of fraud. I strongly recommend that you avoid these products and this company. I will be attempting to return these for a refund.

Didn't work right from the start
This was the second of these Salicru One UPS's I've had, the first being the 900-W version and the second, the 1100-W version.Unpacked what is quite a heavy unit and checked for damage.Plugged in and switched on. First bad sign was no mains power showing and the battery LED flashing plus bleeping. All the trouble-shooting stuff said it was overloaded, despite having no load plugged in.Wasted an enormous amount of time swapping mains leads, checking fuses and so on, plus all the computer time looking for manuals and support.Found no fault on the mains leads etc., so nothing to lose, opened up the case and the first thing to see was a connector floating around with chunky blue and brown leads. The other end of the leads were connected to the incoming mains socket. On one of the PCBs there was a male 2-pin connector with nothing on it in about the right place. This connector is a Molex type with polarisation and a retaining clip, similar to those on computer motherboards.Carefully plugged the leads in and fired up again. All working. This type of connector is designed to stay in place and won't normally come adrift on it's own, so either it was accidentally left off, or had a blow and fell off, or was deliberately left off for transit. APC UPSs, which this was replacing, are delivered with the battery leads disconnected, so this might be the case. I think it is unlikely as the first unit was OK, and it is also unlikely that users would be expected to take the thing apart. So it gets 1-star for tech support, one star for ease of installation and three stars for battery life as unable to judge yet.Not impressed with Salicru and maybe the quality control is poor, of to keep costs down, they are using cheap connectors and components throughout. I use a lot of genuine Molex connectors and the ones fitted aren't in the same class. A word of warning to anyone else who has to do this, make sure the front panel on/off switch is off, as on battery power, there are going to be some high voltages around. Probably worth disconnecting one of the battery leads as well (I didn't). And of course, disconnect the mains power. The APC unit blew up on me and I'm begining to wonder if buying cheap is worth it. All the other reviews are good, but theirs probably worked first time. I'm lucky to have electronics experience, but someone else could be looking at time-wasting return to Amazon.
