We looked for a replacement/backup battery for our Dyson V12 Detect Slim cordless vacuum cleaner about a year ago and couldn’t find anything-even on the Dyson home website. Our original battery wasn’t holding a charge as long as it used to. This replacement batter had mixed reviews, but we took a chance. So far, we are very pleased with it. Appearance is identical to our original battery, it fits the charging station and the vacuum. When plugged in, it already showed it as about 83%. It also has the little blue light on the side showing when it is in the dock charging.

This replacement battery works perfectly and saved me money, installed very quickly!

This battery would not charge with the charger that came with my Dyson. Same voltage but does not take a charge. LEDs do not light up and the display would not show anything charging. Amazon refused to replace it. Zero stars, buyer beware.

At first I thought I received a faulty battery but I figured out that it was my charger - the replacement charger cable is around 11 bucks so I would suggest trying that first. Now that I got the new charger this battery seems to be charging and able to run for the same amount of time as the original battery. However, have only used it 2x due to only recenlty figuring out that the problem was the charger. Four stars for now as I can't tell yet how long it will last - will update review if it lasts for a few months. It's good to have a spare battery anyway for longer vacuum sessions. Pro Tip - if your battery isn't charging try buying a new charger first and if it still doesn't work then maybe try the replacement battery...

Have you ever used your Dyson on boost mode and then you’re on minimal runtime? So frustrating. That’s when the vacuum has the best suction and does its best work. I love that I can always have one on the charger and swap them out as I go. Or have a backup in case anything were to happen to the original. Also, cannot notice a difference between this battery and the original. The V12 detect batteries were so hard to find a replacement for so long- this is a great great price, wonderful value!!

Charging port broke after 2 weeks

So far, so good. Fits perfectly, and works. Very happy.

Unfortunately this battery doesn't work for me well after a couple months. Worked fine at first, but then now it will not work after being left charging or off the charger for a couple days. Seemingly claims to have full charge, but then will not even turn on unless recharged again a couple days later. This doesn't happen with my OEM battery.

This is a decent aftermarket V12 battery which is currently somewhat rare. Also rare is that this pack claims to use genuine Murata cells, which, if true, would make it a better choice than the vast majority of third party batteries which use no-name cells. However, the VTC5D this claims to contain is a 2.8Ah cell, so I'm not sure why 3Ah is being advertised. At the high rates the vacuum discharges at, the actual usable capacity will be even less. The pack is not UL-listed and I could not find any info on whether it implements balancing. It would be nice if a third party manufacturer could use 21700 cells instead of 18650; something like the Samsung 40T could offer 4Ah capacity for a negligible increase in weight and size.

Don't buy it, doesn't hold charge.

This battery slid right into my Dyson V12 without any issues. I didn't mention switching it to my wife and and since out last battery was dying I waited and watched her reaction. We were used to the battery dying after about 4-5 mins, this one kept going and going and going. It was like it was brand new! This was out biggest issue with our dyson, but we didn't want to pay the premium for an official Dyson battery. It fits perfectly, charges just like a stock battery, and works exactly as expected. At $130 I absolutely recommend this replacement battery.
