Received my order of calcium today and the tablets are fine but the lid was broken

Have been taking this for years. Love that it is plant based and easier on my stomach and to digest. I definitely feel the difference when J don’t take it. My body needs calcium and magnesium especially when it comes to balancing my hormones during the extra difficult time of the month.

Several years ago I had been diagnosed with osteopenia, even though i was taking some generic calcium. My dentist actually recommended this when he suggested I get off of the Fosamax my doctor had prescribed (side effect- Fosamax can rot the jaw bone and my dentist had treated people to whom this had happened). I immediately took myself off the Fosamax and started taking Alive Calcium. One year later I had another bone scan. My bone density had actually increased and I was no longer osteopenia! I cannot recommend this product enough!!

CONSUMER ALERT Now has DOUBLE the Vitamin D And that's not necessarily a good thing. Hence the 4 stars for failing to make it clear about the change in amount. Although I have liked and used this product for years. I have taken this product for 6 years for low vitamin D levels (verified by blood tests) and osteopenia. My doctor advised me to take 2000 IUs of Vitamin D per day. My ostopenia has remained stable so in that regard I think the product is effective. My blood Vitamin D levels rose with this product and have been rock stable at 60 (range is 30-100) until now. Last week, my vitamin D level came back at 105, which is over the upper limit. I began to research and found out that this product DOUBLED the amount of Vitamin D from 500 IUs per tablet to 1000 IUs per tablet, effectively making their daily dose to be 4000 IUs per day. So, along with the amount in my multivitamin, I had been taking 5000 IUs for almost a year! In addition, they began to express the amount of Vitamin D in micrograms, instead of IUs, furthing obscuring the increase in dose. The conversion factor from IUs to micrograms is 1 IU = .025 microgram. However, they still said that the increased amount was 500 % of the RDA, when previously they had expressed that the 2000 IUs were 500% of the RDA. Very confusing to say the least. Anyway, just wanted to alert users of this product so you won't be blindsided about the new formulation. I obviously will be looking for a new product since this one no longer suits my needs. I could just take half the recommended daily dose, to bring the Vitamin D in line, but then I wouldn't be getting enough calcium, K2 or magnesium. Caveat Emptor.

I had read that plant based calcium is more easily digested and can actually build bones instead of just slowing down the progression of bone loss, so I decided to try them. These were substantially less expensive than the other brands I looked at, and the pill is coated so it's easier to swallow than capsules even for it's size. Whether or not it actually builds bone remains to be seen, but I'm going to continue with these rather than calcium carbonate or citrate.

Mom especially likes the 180 size, Amazon is the only place to get it! We like the plant-based calcium. Not cheap, but worth it.

I've been using this Calcium product for about 3 years now and really like it. The fact that this Calcium is plant based makes it more digestible. Staying healthy is especially important this year.
