Push down and release the small silver power button on the left. Watch for the lens to move out and the screen to come on to live picture. To take a photo, push down on the oval shaped button on the right and release. You should see a flash and the screen will freeze momentarily and you have taken a picture.

my pix pro FZ43 Kodak camera worked fine for almost a year but suddenly a box that say; " Write protect" showed up and now it won't take photos ?

Check the memory card. Is "Write Protect" enabled with the little slide on the side of the card?
